INTRODUCTION:
-When it comes to determining your future I know college plays a key role. Choosing
a college or a specific degree can be one of the most important decisions to make.
-I am interested in pursuing a career as a dental hygienist or a dental assistant after
attending the University of Southern Indiana.
BODY 1: (MAIN POINTS)
-Having deciding for my future occupation, I knew dental health care was the
environment for me.
-I have selected a Dental Hygiene program to begin my academic career.
-USIs dental hygiene program offers many advantages that will allow me to receive
excellent educational knowledge as well as practical hands on experience to
prepare me and assist me in securing a position in this field.
BODY 2: (MAIN POINTS)
-The University of Southern Indiana, originally Indiana State University of Evansville
(ISUE), was established in 1965.
- One of the six state universities in Indiana built to offer baccalaureate and higher
degrees.
- USI has a large variety of minor degrees that can help tailor a path towards a
successful academic future.
BODY 3: (MAIN POINTS)
-A dental hygienist is a licensed dental professional.
- These health professionals work alongside the dentist providing an array of
services for the patient.
- The median pay is around $70,210 per year and growth opportunities in the field
over the next several years have been estimated at 33%
- This program requires an Associates Degree and is highly competitive.
- Dental hygienists have procedures they provide to their patients including
promoting and maintaining good oral health.

- Some hygienists perform examinations, make diagnosis, take radiographs, provide

dental sealants, and administer fluoride.
BODY 4: (MAIN POINTS)
- I have chosen to be a dental hygienist because Im interested in the importance of
dental care and how it can impact your overall health.
- I have always been interested in some area of health care.
- My parents have many friends in the dental profession and having observed them
through the years has inspired me to look further into this exciting career.
-I love to work with people.
BODY 5: (MAIN POINTS)
- I have also spent a large majority of time looking into dental assisting if something
doesnt go as planned for a dental hygiene.
- I have always believed the dental field is the occupation area for me.
- Being a dental assistant is relatively in the same branch as dental hygiene.
- Being a dental assistant you have the privilege of being a licensed dental
professional.
- You work hand and hand with a dentist passing over different instruments and
materials needed throughout each procedure
- In this specific occupation you will need to inform patients and employees by
answering questions and requests.
- You will be required to understand each procedure and know specific procedures,
treatments, and lab tasks you will be given the responsibility of having comforting
and reassuring communication skills for each client.
- Important qualities are called for from this job, you will need to reflect; being detail
orientated, interpersonal skills, listening skills, and organizational skills.
BODY 6: (MAIN POINTS)
- The education requirements for being a dental assistant is an Associates Degree
through a dental program.
- The median annual wage for dental assistants averages at $34,500 a year. The
lowest percent in this department reaches $23,550, while the top averages
$47,580.
- This individual occupation growth has grown around 25% throughout the years.
BODY 7: (MAIN POINTS)
- I believe I would be able to excel in this individual occupation for numerous
reasons.

- I believe my passions for the dental occupation category can effectively show
throughout my individual abilities and skills.
- My interest in this field leads directly towards having a successful career. I plan to
work to my best ability and present my skills and knowledge in the proper ways.
CONCLUSION: (MAIN POINTS)
- I have also been a patient on the receiving end of dental work.
- As a result, I am prepared to work hard and committed to make the sacrifices
required to pursue this dream.
- I aim to excel academically and demonstrate a highly motivated work ethic.
- Today my future looks as bright and promising as the healthy smiles I look to
create in my exciting new academic career in dental healthcare.
