Contemporary Political Awareness and Issues
The survey of contemporary and political awareness and issues that was done in class has some
point that I do agree with and others not. The first question was about immigration police.
Implementing a more restrictive immigration police in my opinion I will say no. But what is
important to understand about immigration is how it is conducting. As far as immigrants are
coming to this country legally there is no need to restrictive immigration policy because
immigrants contribute a lot to the economy of this country. Its just a matter of who is allowed to
come and who is not allowed. Like all sovereign nations, the US government needs to protect the
borders of the country in order to control immigration. I came here as immigrate four years ago
and every day I am thankful to the U.S for giving new life and new hope after losing everything
back home. The second question was if the United Stated should relax on 1st Amendment rights
to fight terrorism. The answer is absolutely no. The rights defined in the first Amendment should
be protected. Terrorism is the movement that does not have anything to do with these rights. I
believe once you are the target of the terrorists movement, thats when you become a victim. I
dont think the rights of the first amendment have any impact with terrorism but what I think is
just the matter of political interests. The next question was if the law should abide citizens to
have right to keep and bear arms. Seeing the situation that the notion is facing now with massive
gun shootings in the country, I will say that it could be better if the right of obtaining gun could
be abolished. If Australia, Canada and other countries that were in the same situation have

reached at the point of controlling guns, why not America? The other question was about
legalization of gay marriage. I think the U.S. Supreme Court did a huge mistake by legalizing the
gay marriage for different reasons. One, homosexuality is a misleading psychological disorder.
To me none was born gay, same with prostitution, pedophilia and so on. Two, gay marriage
should have another denomination because when it comes to marriage we see the union between
man and woman. This institution should be reserved to the church by the term of marriage. May
be the U.S. Supreme Court could use other name like Civil Union but no marriage to avoid
confusion. The next question was if physician should allow assisting for terminal ill patients if
they desire so. To my opinion I dont think it a good idea for the fact that someone for being ill
may be disoriented and say something that he or she doesnt mean. Also we need to respect the
right of living because life is sacred. Should the United States implement the system of universal
health care for all citizens? This should be the priority because many people in the U.S have
difficulties or cannot afford to insure their health care. This is one of the major crises that the
country may be facing now and it contributes to the number of death of Americans. Should the
United States take a stronger military stance towards Russia, Iraq, North Korea, and terrorists? I
think the primary job U.S army should be the protection of the country. In my opinion I will say
it should in order to protect its benefits because thats what politic is about. Should the United
States be conducting the surveillance on its citizens through NSA? I will say No because doing
so will be violating the right of someones privacy. Should the U.S government promote addition
tax cuts to stimulate the economy? No, the problem is how what we pay is used, and how the
business process is conducting in order to create more jobs among Americans. Should the U.S
implement stricture rules dealing with emissions to reduce global warming? Absolutely yes

because the more gas released, the more air pollution we get. After analyzing all this questions,
compare to the majority of my classmate, I think more people in my class are liberal.
