Vaccinations and Autism, are they linked?

It has been said, over and over again,
that vaccinations cause autism and

children, there has been a rise in
autism cases. So the only logical
answer is to blame the vaccinations,
correct? Wrong. Instead of looking
only for the obvious, we should look
a little deeper.
Autism is a brain developmental
disability that is caused by the
differences in how the brain
functions. 1 in about 68 children
have been identified with autism also
known as ASD. Some people have
had concerns that ASD might be
linked to the vaccines children
receive, but studies have shown that
there is no link between receiving
vaccines and developing ASD. In
2011, an Institute of Medicine report
on eight vaccines given to children
and adults found that with rare
exceptions, these vaccines are very
safe.(CDC 2015). There is one
ingredient in vaccinations called
thimerosal, that has taken a lot of the
blame for this claim. According to
the Oxford Journal, studies fail to
support their claims. Theories for
this putative association have
centered on the measles-mumpsrubella (MMR) vaccine, thimerosal,
and the large number of vaccines
currently administered. However,
both epidemiological and biological
studies fail to support these claims.

While
all the claims say that with the rise in
vaccinations there has been a rise in
autism, they have been proven not to
be related. In the United Kingdom,
researchers evaluated 498 autistic
children born from 1979 through
1992 who were identified by
computerized health records from 8
health districts. Although a trend
toward increasing autism diagnoses
by year of birth was confirmed, no
change in the rates of autism
diagnoses after the 1987 introduction
of MMR vaccine was observed.
Further, MMR vaccination rates of
autistic children were similar to those
of the entire study population. Also,
investigators did not observe a
clustering of autism diagnoses
relative to the time that children
received MMR vaccine, nor did they
observe a difference in age at autism
diagnosis between those vaccinated
and not vaccinated or between those
vaccinated before or after 18 months
of age. These authors also found no
differences in autism rates among
vaccinated and unvaccinated children
when they extended their analysis to
include a longer time after MMR
exposure or a second dose of MMR.

With
all of these claims and research, it is
quite obvious that the problem isnt
the vaccinations. It is because of
them that our children stay healthy.
With all the scientific evidence on

with every generation, isnt it
possible that autism has developed
and changed over the years? Autism
is defined as an: intellectual
disability, difficulties in motor
coordination and attention and
physical health issues such as sleep
and gastrointestinal disturbances.

visual skills, music, math and art.

disorder, it progresses with time.
There are many levels of autism that
the world didnt know about years
ago.
To
bring this back to topic, vaccinations
and autism are not related in any
way. Just like any other medication
out there, there could be side effects,
but as the science shows, there is no
evidence of them being linked
together. I will always have my kids
vaccinated and not allow them to go
to schools that dont require the kids
to be vaccinated. Maybe we should
stop worrying about the vaccinations
themselves, and realize that this
diagnosis is being handed out like
candy. Children all have different
temperaments and personalities, just
because one is different from the
other, doesnt mean they have a
mental disorder. Before deciding that
you arent vaccinating your kids,
look at the science and research, and
realize that everything on the internet
isnt true.
