I am writing this letter of reference for Christine Gatlin. Christine has been a student teacher at Meadows
Elementary in Plano ISD over the past two semesters during which time she has worked in kindergarten and 4 th
grade classrooms. Christine was a student teacher in my 4 th grade classroom for eight weeks during the fall
semester of 2015.
During Christines student teaching experience, she was expected to participate in grade level meetings, staff
meetings, after school events, write lesson plans and complete a two-week-teach for my language arts and social
studies classes.
Christine developed a positive rapport with the students, incorporated technology into her lessons, assisted with
correcting papers and assembling bulletin boards, and was not afraid to ask questions when she needed help.
During the time Christine was with me for her student teaching experience, I challenged her with demands of
planning and differentiation, classroom management, record keeping and data analysis. I wanted her to have a
true feel for what it is like to be in the role of the classroom teacher. During her two-week teach, I handed the class
over to her and gave her that experience. From the beginning of her student teaching assignment through the end,
I watched Christine grow and change into a more confident teacher.
As Christine pursues substitute teaching positions in your district, know that she is well prepared as a graduate of
the Texas A&M Commerce education program. I am glad to have had an opportunity to work with her.
