Classroom Management
Parent/Teacher Communication

Current and future students are curious and eager to

incorporate technology into the classroom as much as
feasibly possible. It is the job of the teacher to equip them
by providing guidance and locating useful electronic tools.
Often teachers can find themselves feeling disconnected
from their students. It's so crucial to be able to fill that
"gap" within the student-teacher relationship. Class Dojo
can be very beneficial in forming that connection. Class
Dojo allows teachers to connect with students in a creative
and interactive way. Children love discovering new

By creating a virtual classroom, teachers are able to use

Class Dojo to manage their classroom using their
technological device. Attendance and student behavior can
be tracked within the app. Students can earn badges and
rewards for good behavior. Each student is given an
individualized creature to represent themselves within the
app. Students become excited earning badges for their
creatures and are able to share their accomplishments with
their families.
Teachers can easily report through a live feed page about
how their students are achieving within the classroom.

REVIEW
ClassDojo excels the most as a communication tool, where it helps
make a wider picture of students' daily experiences in class more
transparent for teachers, parents, and kids. The program can give
teachers a more specific look at students' behaviors and the social
skills they're learning. The reports are also very useful for parents,
although they don't automatically include detailed explanations about
why students' points were awarded or deducted. While it might be
more labor intensive for teachers, an embedded commenting feature
could help make this data moremeaningful and actionablefor parents
and kids.Overall, the program can be a valuable way to keep
instruction more whole-child focused, as a complement to schools'
attention toward students' academic skills and assessment (J. Shiroff,

USEFULNESS IN THE
CLASSROOM
When implemented correctly Class Dojo can be an extremely useful tool to
manage a classroom. Provided below is several lesson plans for
implementing Class Dojo appropriately. This teacher expanded Class Dojo
from a points system app into a reflective management tool. This allows
students to not only receive rewards for their behavior but also reflect on
why they are gaining or losing those points. By expanding this
management tool, students are able to form a greater understanding of the
rules and why they are important within the classroom.

WHAT IS MY INCREDIBLE BODY?

This application is designed to help students develop an understanding
of the interworking of the human anatomy. The app features eight
sections that cover circulation, muscles, senses (vision, smell, hearing,
touch), kidneys & Urine, skeleton, respiration, digestion, and brain &
nerves. This app provides children with 3D models of the human skeleton,
organs, and nerves. The word incredible truly defines this application
because of the amazing features it makes available. This app also gives
students the opportunity to virtually fly through the body systems, read
science facts, and virtually dissect 3D models. These experiences support
greater student understanding and cannot be attained within a classroom
textbook.

REVIEW
Parents need to know that My Incredible Body - A Kid's App to Learn
about the Human Body takes kids on guided tours through eight systems
in the human body using medically accurate 3-D models coupled with
brief, kid-friendly audio clips. Kids can explore the digestive, respiratory,
skeletal, urinary, sensory, muscular, and cardiovascular systems. Kids
watch and listen as the app travels through a system (for example, kids
watch as a bite of pizza moves from inside a mouth through the various
parts of the digestive system all the way to end of the process), and
read or listen to the related facts. The app includes options for kids to
virtually zoom, rotate, and "dissect" the 3-D models (D. Villamagna,
2015).

CLASSROOM USE
This app would be incredibly useful during anatomy
units within the classroom. Students could be given a
list of scavenger hunt questions that they need to find
answers for through using the application. This gives
the opportunity for students to work and play
independently but also achieve a goal that it set by the
instructor. By exploring the app for the listed
information students would gain large amounts of
information without even realizing.

This app could also be combined with a

lesson plan where students explore the
digestive system:
