Learners Description:
This ELL student is in stage 2, the low intermediate stage. The strategies that I
have selected will support my ELL student because being that my student is in
the low intermediate stage, small and non-verbal activities like my puzzle activity
will be easy enough for this student to complete and understand being that there
will be no speaking being done only gestures and the use of body language to
put the right piece into place. This student will also be able to contribute to my
role-playing game, which is another non-verbal activity that can be done using
only body language, gestures and pointing. This student can also fill out a
discussion web on the topic regarding different ways to communicate being that
they can write simple notes and phrases and can pick out the main idea and
certain details in passages when reading. Lastly I plan to provide visuals in my
power point presentation to help aid my ELL student in comprehending the class
discussion better. By doing this I aim to give my student a better understanding of
the topic just in case they do not fully understand the context on the power point.
