Genre Analysis
My subject is Gender inequality in American pop Culture. The audience for this
subject everyone that does and doesnt see the inequality of genders. The purpose for the
information is to both inform and persuade people to make a difference in the way
different genders are treated. The Audience ties into this subject because they are all
members of a different Gender group, and have probably in some way or another
experienced getting treated differently by their genders. The main purpose is to give
general awareness of the different Genders. The language should be formal and informal
so that the message gets presented across in a professional yet understandable way so that
everyone can understand the subject.
Im tired of churches teaching male Headship
My first Genre is an Article about how a woman is tired that certain religions only
talk about Male Headships and not about Women. The title is Im tired of churches
teaching male Headship by a female pastor, Kelly Ladd Bishop. Kelly talks about how
throughout centuries of most religion the focus is on nothing but males, and because of
that females throughout centuries have been silenced. The main target audience is
everyone who doesnt see the differences in Gender roles. Kelly reaches out to the

audience but explaining some of the ways that women have been treated differently than
men throughout history. She talk about how women have been treated hostile and
objectified as just pieces for mens pleasures. The tone and language that she uses is very
formal so that she can better get her message across.
American role reversal: Women the new breadwinners
An American role reversal: Women the new breadwinners is another genre I
planned to use, it is written by Dennis Cauchon. Dennis explains in his article how
women are gaining strength, and money in the workplace, and how fewer women are
staying home like they traditionally did in the past. The intended audience for this article
is everyone, to show them how much women are growing and changing gender roles. His
language is very formal to portray his seriousness and how the subject he is talking about
is facts. Dennis uses many graphs and facts to show the logic of the subject and the
change of womens roles in societies.
I believe both Genres were efficient in portraying the differences in how women
have been treated. However I think the second Genre is greater in informing and
persuasive in how the women of today are treated.
