Long Lesson Plan for 2 observed lessons

Lesson Schedule
Math language: teacher focus in math words , such as : measure, length, ruler,
standard units, edge, perimeter.
Teacher questions:
Can you think what is perimeter ?
Can you think now what is the total of this perimeter ?
Can you count it with me ?
Can you explain for your friends how could you measure it ?
Can you show us how did you solve this question?
Do you know what do we mean by edge ?
Grouping students :
Video : class.( On the carpet)

Highlight on a poster : small groups of 3.(tables)
Here the teacher with continue the video which is related to how to count the
perimeter.
Using white boards to count (small example 5 * 5 ) : count how far the ant moved
around the outside edges.
( On the carpet).
Ant activity
(81/2 * 11) : pair : just to show them what is perimeter , and how to count it . (On
desks)
For low ability teacher will provide easier work sheets .
Engage (warm up, review prior knowledge):

After the first part of the video ( which related to introducing the perimeter )
Can you show me with your hand the perimeter of the square ? triangle ? rectangle?

Core (introduce and practice new concepts & procedures):

Highlight on a poster : small groups of 3.(tables)
Teacher will provide on the tables posters with highlighters .
Students need to work on groups to highlight the perimeter of each shape
( triangle , rectangle , and square ).

Using white boards to count (small example 5 * 5 ) : count how far the ant
moved around the outside edges.
( On the carpet). Teacher could use this method That means , just imagine that
we have an ant in the corner (choose any ) of this page and this ant walked all the way
around the edge of the paper ,until she goes back to where she started .(follow this
path with your finger )

Ant activity
(81/2 * 11) : pair : just to show them what is perimeter , and how to count it .
(On desks)
For low ability teacher will provide easier work sheets .
Close (wrap up, discussion, brief review activity or assessment):
Students will reflect on the Ant activity , how to solve it .
Q: Can you explain for your friends how could you measure it ?
Can you show us how did you solve this question?
