I am from a small town,

From everyone knows who you are.

I am from the other side of the Yadkin River.
(Brown, muddy,
It floods when it rains.)
I am from a cul de sac
The big backyard
With neighbors I grew up with
As if we were all family.
Im from Friday night lights,
From bonfires and tractor pulls.
Im from the dont quits
And the gossip Queens
From yall! And bless your heart!
Im from the Lord is my Savior
With an amazing church
And where things shine like new money
Im from singing dogs and purring cats,
Fried squash and cannin greens.
From being captain on the volleyball court
And where sweet tea is water.
Under my chair were corn shucks
And jelly in the jars
Four wheeling in the mud
And a grandma that never stopped praying
I am from crawdads in the creek
Taken and never forgotten
I am from a small town.
