Classroom Management Plan

Rules:
1. No talking during instruction
2. Show respect towards others and to property
3. Be prepared for class
4. Have an open mind
Consequences:
1. First Offense: verbal warning
2. Second Offense: student teacher conference after class
3. Third Offense: students parents are notified
4. Fourth Offense: student, teacher, principle and parent
conference

I believe that in order to obtain a positive, safe and fun


learning environment, these rules and consequences must be
followed in my classroom. The consequences allow the students
to observe their behavior and become responsible to correct it if
they do not desire a more severe consequence. At the same time
it gives the student and the teacher opportunities in the
classroom to resolve any conflict without being removed from
class right away.

Class Management, Organization and Expectations

Management and Organization

Classroom rules, consequences and procedures will be


discussed and posted in the classroom.

A seating chart will be given if students cannot handle


sitting where they choose.

Lessons will be reflective of course content and according to


state standards and benchmarks.

Lesson plans will made for every day and flow from day to
day having a warm up and review.

All quizzes and tests will be made according to the material


covered, and standards that students know they need to
meet.

There will be a multitude of evaluation and assessment


techniques so that learners of all kinds may benefit fairly.

Expectations of the teacher

I will be prepared for class

I will be available before and after school or during lunch for

student needs

Students will respect and follow all rules and procedures

Procedures
Beginning of class

Students will be in the door and in their seats when the bell

rings

Students begin warp-up activity listed on the board

Students turn in any assignments that are due that day.

During a lesson

Students do not talk during instruction

Students should raise their hand when needing to

communicate their need

Students should participate in the lesson with a happy face

During individual/group work

Students converse quietly with others in the group

When the teacher needs the groups attention, the groups

should stop and listen

Students may get up and move around the room as needed

If work is completed early they may converse quietly in a

non-disruptive manner
Tests/Quizzes

Students work quietly on their assessment

NO talking allowed during this time, unless otherwise stated.

Crying is allowed, but not encouraged; if needed, students

may weep at a quiet, soft, level so as not to disturb other


students

When finished, students bring their test/quiz up to the

teacher and may work on any homework, read or listen to their


ipod at a low level
Absent/Late work

Absent work may be made up but must be turned in no later

than 2x the number of days missed in class. For example if you


missed 2 days of school, you have 4 school days to turn it in

Late work is accepted, however, 10% of the total points will

be taken away for every day not turned in after the due date.
End of class

Students are not to herd around the door like cattle waiting

for the bell to ring.

The teacher will dismiss the class

Teacher areas

The teachers desk, computer, closets and personal items

are NOT to be used by the students unless given permission

Only the teacher is allowed to use the Oscar (tech cart)

unless given permission

Beliefs About Classroom Discipline

Minor disruptions
I believe that all minor disruptions should take place between the
teacher and the student. The teacher needs to be able to control
the class. Students being disruptive, falling asleep, not paying
attention, talking, doing other work and other things can be
handled with a look, a verbal warning, walking over to the
students general area while still giving the lesson or giving the
student a form of informal assessment will handle these minor
disruptions.
On-going discipline issues
Issues that are on-going or reoccurring in the classroom will result
in a student-teacher conference after class. By pulling the
student aside and making him/her aware of the behavioral issue,
praising good attributes and warning of the consequences if the
behavior persists will help to correct that issue. I think that high
school students need to be given the opportunity to be
responsible with their own behavior. If there still is a problem, a
meeting is set up with the parents to help correct the issue in a
way that teachers cant.

Aggressive and violent behavior

This kind of behavior will not be tolerated in my class. If I were to


observe ANY beginnings of aggressive or violent behavior I would
remain calm and ask the student to move away from the other
students so we could talk. If another teacher were available, say
on a prep hour, I would call and ask to have him/her watch my
class so that I may converse with the student in the hall. If the
student refuses to cooperate, OR the aggression or violent
behavior is actually observed/carried out, I would immediately
take the student to the office or seek help from the
administration.
