Have you ever played Sudoku?

Lets imagine that we are going on a road trip, and you want to have some Sudoku puzzles to
help pass the time while travelling in the vehicle.
You find one Sudoku book for $1.69 plus tax.
You have $9.00 and would like to buy 5 more books.
How can you estimate if you have enough money?
5 x $1 = $5.00
5 x $0.7 = $3.50
$5.00 + $3.50 = $8.50
But what about tax? You will have to multiply your estimate by the tax rate and add that to your
total. $8.50 x 0.05 = .425. $8.50 + $.43 = $8.92.
Yay! You have enough money to buy 5 Sudoku books.

2.2 x 1.8 = 3960 Where do you place Options:

the decimal??
Estimate:
2x1=2
3.9600 is closest to 2

0.3960
3.9600
39.6000
396.0000
3960.0000

Example
A pronghorn antelope
has a mass of 58 kg.
A Dalls sheep has a
mass 1.5 times as great
as a pronghorn.
a) Estimate the mass of
the Dalls sheep
b) Calculate the mass of
the Dalls sheep.

If you remove the decimal

to make the calculation
easier, remember to put the
decimal back.
