Child labour laws: A step back for advancing Bolivia? - BBC News. (n.d.). Retrieved November

The website above explains the harsh reality that Bolivian children are facing. This
particular article describes a child Juan Manuel and his family. It discusses his work in a brick
factory where at the age of 12 he will be making 46 euros a month. The article also shows
various pictures and includes a video showing the living condition of juan manuel and his family
along with what a day at work looks like. Lifting bricks and allot of manual labor. The article
clearly attacks pathos as it shows how cruel and saddening it is to see a nine year old working. It
also uses logos by showing that a nine year old child should not be working moving heavy
objects all day, it is morally wrong and unhealthy. This article explains the newly passed law on
child labor in Bolivia a topic heavily present in my speech. It also gives information on how
crucial a child's contribution to the family is. Even though he is nine years old his paycheck
allows the family to get by. Also a topic heavily seen in my informative speech.

The article above written by the NPR informs us about child labor in Bolivia. It provides
several statistics on how many children were working in the year 2013 in Bolivia. This article
has several interviews from high ranking politicians to the Children of the UNATSBO
themselves. This article has sethos logos as pathos as it shows statistics and personal interviews
to show credibility. It appeals to the emotion of readers as it makes them feel sorry for these
children workers who want to work in order to provide for their families and pay for their
schooling. This article provides a great quote in which I will use in my powerpoint in order to
show the audience how children are willing and wanting to work. Something that is morally
wrong and should not be happening. It also gives several statistics that will be helpful and could
be included in my speech.

The guardian provides an important view on child labor. It uses pathos as its strong point.
Naming the article Bolivia's child labor law shames us all. It makes several accusations on how
morally wrong legal child labor is. It is a very opinionated article showing how wrong child
labor is. It gives a good perspective on how offensive this can be to people. It provides a good
point of view from the people who are looking to change the world and get rid of child labor
once and for all. This goes strongly with my presentation as I am trying to inform the class on
Child labor in Bolivia and how bad it is. This will be a good article to uses in favor of my point
demonstrating how bad this is and why it is important to the audience.

'Kids want to work' is a poor justification for laws that legalize work by 10-year-olds. (2014,

This article argues that the fact children want to work is a poor justification to make child
labor legal. It recognizes the fact that child labor should not be part of any culture or society. It
has several facts and quotes from children who are currently working. Most of them explaining
how they have no choice. if they want to eat and attend school they have no choice. The writer
later calls out solutions and claims to the problem at hand. How Unicef and other child
organizations should turn their attention to Bolivia and make something happen. The author uses
logos to show how logically this is not write. How children should not work a job and then go to
school it's crazy. This article will be a great addition to my power point and speech as it points
out several claims that i will be using in my speech. Such as why is it a justification if children
want to work and it also provides information on the children's side of the argument which is
crucial. It will also inform the class on how children feel.

The article by the global journalist talks about children miners in cerro rico. A key aspect
of my speech as i will be talking a lot about it to the class. As it is one of the major and most
cruel places children in Bolivia are working today. The article talks about some of the conditions
the child workers are working in. the tight spaces and the risks that come with working. It also
informs us about black lung a disease commonly seen with miners in this mine. As they are
breathing in toxic fumes and dust all day. It also offers a perspective from some of the child
workers as well. The article uses logos and ethos to show ethics and statistics of workers, along
with logical arguments on how cruel it is for them to be working there.

This article written by vice shows more of an first person experience of what it was like
to be in the mine with the children. It also uses the opinion of the children they interviewed and
went into the mine with to experience what a day at worked looked like. The writers show
photos as they themselves share the emotions they felt while they were in the mine with the
children. They describe their emotions as well as the emotions the children shared with them.
making this a valuable addition to my speech as I can use some first person quotes and
information to further get the audience to know what it feels like to be in the mine and working
alongside a ten year old child. it will be useful as a attention getter.

This newspaper article informs the audience on child workers in Bolivia and the reasons
behind the justifications for child labor. It uses ethos in order to convince the audience that a
child labor cannot be stopped so if it cannot be stopped they should be treated like workers not
like slaves. the Article mainly describes the fact that since children are going to work anyway
regardless if it is legal or illegal, they should be treated like workers. if child labor is legal this
will force employers to pay them a salary above minimum wage and they cannot be mistreated.
if they do it's serious jail time. If it's going to be bad make it good as one part of the article says.
This will be a crucial article in my presentation as it provides a point of view other than that of
child labor being so bad and horrible. It will give the audience a perspective on why things have
gone the way they are.

This article is similar to the previous ones. Talking about the children miners in Bolivia.
Describing what work is like what it consists of and the dangers faced while perform a job in
what they believe is hell. It talks a little bit about the shrine for the devil. As they believe the
mine is underground so it's in the devil's territory. and how god couldn't have created such a dark
and evil place. It uses logos and provides logical arguments so that the audience can put
themselves in the perspective of the child workers who are essentially working in hell as they

claim. This article will be good because I can inform the class on just what a terrible place the
mine is. In order to worship the devil for protection in his realm this must be a pretty scary and
evil place. Giving the class a little perspective on what it's like.

This article provides a personal view on the child workers of Bolivia. It uses pathos as the
author of the article expresses his emotions throughout the article. He even titled it the plight of
Bolivia's child miners. As he describe the conditions in which these children live. The short lives
they live and the horrible side effects the money the mine gives them. Such as black lung broken
bones amputated limbs and so on. This article will help support many of my points in my speech
as it repeats several of the topics that were already discussed. It will help back my arguments
with more sources and more credibility. Especially if it's coming from a first person view.

The informative video filmed by vice gives an insight on the child laborers of Bolivia
whether it be in the mines or in the city. The video gives us a good look at what it is like to be in
the mines the noises you hear the darkness and the living conditions of these child workers. This
video would be really cool to show to the class but unfortunately it is to long. The video gives
people a good look at what it is like. It paints a very vivid picture and shows just how terrible the
lives of these children are.
