Thepatientwashospitalizedattheageof18.Duringtheprecedingyeartherehadbeenagradual
disintegrationofpersonality,evidencedbyinappropriatelaughingandgiggling,bizarre
conversations,andfailureinschool.Thepatientsillnessbegansoonafterherfatherdeparted
fromhome.Asdescribedbythepatientsmother,Shestartedtoworryaboutayearago.My
husbandleftandshebegantothinkabouthimallthetime.Sheusedtotalkfunnyfunnythings
allthetime.Sheusedtohearanairplaneandstandonthekitchentablelookingattheceiling.
Shewouldlookoutofthekitchenwindowatchildrenwhowereplayingatschoolaboutamile
awayandaskediftheotherchildrencouldseeher.Shehelpedwiththehousework,butoften
stoodoutsidestaringatnothing.Shewouldsay.IdontknowwhetherIamaboyoragirl.Do

Ericaslookslikeherletterofintroduction.Themomentpeoplelaytheireyesonhershining
face,herlongblondehair,herbig,brown,alerteyes,theyrelaxedtheirnaturalskepticismmost
ofususetoprotectourselvesagainststrangers.Sheworehersmilelikeatastefulornament,like
anexpensivepieceofjewelrythatcaughttheeyewithoutgaudiness.Thosewhowereunmoved
byherlovelinessorbyherquicksmilealwayssuccumbedtoheringratiatingmanner.Witha
combinationofeasyeyecontactandsoftresponsiveness,shemanagedtogiveeveryonewhom
shehaddirectedherattentiontothefeelingthattheywereappreciatedandimportant.

AnincidentthatoccurredwhileEricawasaseniorinhighschooltypifiedherantisocial
behavior.Erica,whoisverybrightandarticulate,hadbeenexemptedfromsubmittingaresearch
paperassignedinherhistoryclass.Sincediscussionwasanintegralpartoftheclassactivity,she
hadimpressedheryoungbutwellqualifiedteacherwithherreadyopinionsandherwillingness
toparticipate.

Thedaytheassignmentwasdue,Ericawenttotheschoolcafeteriaforlunchandhappenedtosit
nexttoagirlnamedVickiwhowasastudentinherhistoryclass.EricaoverheardVickitelling
oneofherfriendshowhardshehadworkedonherresearchpaper.

Ispentfourweeks,saidVicki,doingresearch,writing,andtyping.Agoodgradeonthisis
theonlywayIllpassthecoursebecausethatteachercaughtmecuttingclass.

WhenVickiandherfriendleftthetabletostandontheservingline,Ericawassuddenlyinspired
andexcitedbyanidea.WithVickinomorethatafewfeetaway,Ericawentthroughthebooks
shehadleftatthetable,foundtheneatlytypedresearchpaper,andslippeditintoherown
notebook.ShestayedatthetableafterVickihadreturned,calmlyateherlunch,andevenmade
casualconversationwithVickiandherfriend.AssoonasVickiwasfinishedeating,sheandher
friendpickeduptheiremptytraysandbooksandsaidgoodbyetoErica.

Ericawaitedcoollyatthetable.Withinminutes,Vickiscurriedbacktothetable,herface
contortedwithworry.EricawasamusedwhileVickifranticallyscannedthetabletopandthen
gottoherhandsandkneestocheckthefloor.

WhatsupVicki?askedErica,nonchalantly.

thatday,andwhentheteachercollectedtheassignment,hewassurprisedwhenEricasubmitted
apaper.

becausethepatienthasthesymptomsof
disorganizedspeech,disorganizedbehavior,andbluntedandinappropriateaffect.Sheishaving
difficultiesorganizingherthoughtsandspeaksomethingwhichismeaningful.Alsoshecant
focusonthespecifictasks.Sheshowedheremotionslikelaughinginaninappropriatesituations
andhaveinappropriatefacialexpressions.

BehavioralTherapies
AyounggirlissufferingfromfromtheDisorganizedSchizophrenia,whichcanbelonglasting
diseasewhichcanaffectforthewholelife.BehavioralTherapywillhelpthepatientlikethis
younggirltousetheirmindsandskillsinaeffectiveplacesandhelptolearnnewskillswhich
willhelpthemtoliveanormallife.Tolearnthoseskills,theyneedtoanalyzewhatiseffective
andwhatisnot,andithinkthisisthethingswhichissufferingthisyounggirlbecausesheis
thinkinglikesomeoneiscomingandshedonthavehighselfesteem.ThatswhyBehavioral

Therapywillhelptofindourcertainskillstoincreaseourabilitytoassumethingslike
stressmanagementskills,communicationskill,assertivestraining,andproblemsolvingskill.

UsingCognitiveTherapy,apatientlikeayounggirlwillrequireapsychologisttoacceptthe
cognitivedistortion,anddisorganizedthinkings.
Cognitivetherapycanonlybesuccessfulifthe
psychologistacceptstheclient'sperceptionofreality,anddetermineshowtousethis
"misperception"toassisttheclientincorrectlymanaginglifeproblems.Itwillhelpapatientor

PatientwhohaveaDisorganizedSchizophreniacangethelpfromthesupportgroup.Support
groupwillaskthepatientabouttheirthoughts,feelings,emotions,symptomsandallother
things.Afterthatsupportgroupwillanalyzepatientswordsaboutwhathe/shesaidaboutillness.
Andsupportgroupwilldecideiftheycanhelpthepatientbythemselvesortheyneedpsychiatric
orbiologicaltreatment.Supportgroupwillhelpapatientineverystepuntiltheybecomenormal.

BiologicalTreatments
Schizophreniaisalsoknownasabiologicalbraindisorder,itstreatmentsprimarilycomprise
medicationsthattargettheabnormalitiesinthebrain.Typesofmedicationscommonly

TherearenospecificmedicationsthataregearedtowardssolelyhelpingpeoplewithAntisocial
PersonalityDisorder.However,therearesomethathelpthegeneralproblemsofpersonality
