Major: Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Business Administration

Department: Public, Community and Customer Relations

The Public, Community and Customer Relations Department maintains open communication through various channels of media with the public it serves and its many stakeholders. The department is comprised of Public & Community Relations, Customer Relations, & the Airport Art Program. From news releases to newsletters, all the way to the employee Ambassablog and Twitter, the PR team works with every medium to properly inform the traveling public of the Authority's latest and greatest occurrences. Customer relations are monitored through the Customer Relationship Management system, in addition to conducting annual surveys to assess the level of customer satisfaction. The Airport Art Program, consisting of temporary and rotating exhibits, performing arts and public art, is the Authority's initiative to enhance the traveler experience and welcome them with an ambiance unique to San Diego.

FirstlYtalthough born and raised in San Di.e-Qot it is: absolutely remarkable recogn.izing hOiW much I have learned regarding the regio;n itself, solely because of this: experience, Working closely with Customer:- Relationst every day I had constant exposure to the traveling public and its affiliates, I've had the opportunity to work with the Volunteer Airport Ambassadors, and on a daily basis, be the del-e.g ate for passenqer concerns and inquiriee •. I am nothing but grat.eful for the opportunity to work with the PCCR team, for not only do th.ey have direct affiliation with these th.ey serve, but are demanded to have fundamental kriowledqe of every aspect and every department within the Autho, ity, that they may properly disseminate rnessaqes to their public and many stakeholders,

I was searching for exposure, most importantly ... for a solid experience ... and I have stepped into a world providing rneexperiences in which, even until this moment, are surreal - I 'walke. up inspired, arid am still learninq sornethinc newevery day. I've been introduced to so rnarty aspects of not only aviation ,and inteqrated cornrnunications, but various pubic and private sectors of San Diego COiU nty in .g en era I.

I've learned how to better communicate with people of all walks of life, with different specializations and different values. I've learned immensely haw passion can be. the. driving force a person carries to succeed, The employees here .at the Authority have just that; they have passion for their professions, for the duties they take pride in fulfilling and for each other- it's simply contagious.

With the demands o,n graduat"", to obtain higher education and/or fieldexperience in tod.ay's econornv, the opportunitv that has been gr,anted unto us has more thanexceeded our expectations, Having a backqround in the. aviation industry or not, the program catered to our needs as we.11 as exposed us to various fields within the. industry that works eeparatelv but in one universal manner,

Alth.ough the internship is short-lived, I am confident that what we have g.aine.d from this experience will only open more doors for our future; that IMe will be able to incorporate every opportunity into even greater learning experiences because of this exposure that every young professional deeply desires.
