PURPOSAL TOPICS:

1. Artificial Intelligence and the World Wide Web.

As technology improves many of the researchers of computer science are pursuing
artificial intelligence: Robots that think, learn, and function by their own decision
making. But will the invention artificial computer software be the end of the world? I
believe so. Especially when it plugs in to the World Wide Web and has a complete history
and evidence of human nature. As the creator resembles the creation, it is more than
likely that artificial intelligence will have a dark and destructive side that eventually acts
out against the world and those living on it. Like any of mans supreme inventions it is
sooner than later used for evil. Prime example; as soon as nuclear energy started
becoming a viable source of power, it was quickly converted into a world dominating
mass destruction weapon.
2. Living with your parents longer than believed you should: Sexy or Not?
The common joke on every stand up comedians palate in the past half a decade has been
the phenomenon of weird 30 year olds still living in their parents garage. But why and
how this is happening has just been a back story that many people cringe to have to think
about. Or, if they do, it is in the lowest of opinions of those individuals who have chosen
to do this. So the question is, is it, or is it not, a good idea to live with the parents as much
as possible? In this essay I will examine the evidence of those individuals, including
myself, who have chosen to extend their teenage dependence by a decade longer than
what previously was popular, by either staying in their parents house or moving back in
after joining the work force. I will examine the pros and cons of living with the folks and
argue the point that, in this economic and social era it is a positive and intelligent choice
to live with the parents as long as you can possibly tolerate them.
The popular
belief is dictated by the greed and corruption of the elite few that wish to see more blue
collar employees working harder not smarter for their company. Meaning, who is the

loser, the person that quickly gains independence from their dictating parents in order to
be enslaved to some corporate 9 to 5 job that sucks them dry of any lofty ambitious
dreams they might have had about their adult life; or the individual that takes advantage
of sanctuary from the quickly changing and war stricken economy by figuring out a more
self-rewarding strategy to live out their years by.
I say dont get sucked in to selling out your potential just because you feel
embarrassed about your living situation. At least to the degree you can tolerate the
presence of those not so perfect people that have raised you and tried their hardest not to
mess you up.
However, prolonged adolescence isnt the best choice forever. Unless youre mentally
ill. Which according to many studies (I will mention if you pick this topic) the majority
of young adults suffer from some kind of anxiety or depression disorder. Times they are a
changing.
3. Does public education equal success in life or is alternative sources of education a viable
choice as well?
With the world information at our finger tips, available to us almost anywhere, is it
necessary for young adults to attend a college or university in order to be financially and
personally accomplished in the modern world? Or can the future youth of America avoid
expensive education debts and teach themselves important tools for future success by
other means?
I believe the major flaw in the public education system is that it lacks the ability to
nurture peoples passions. Sure, there rare cases of enlightened educators that are
interested in the nuances of pupils lives and helping to bring education to a practical and
personal application, but are the majority of students educational needs being met?
There are many examples of people that graduate school, have perfect attendance, and
excellent grades, but as soon as schooling is finished, never open up a book or investigate
further into any type of intellectual endeavors. I believe this is do to the fact that
education is set up in a very dry and have-to bases. That the real function of school
should be to leave the student with a permanent hunger for wisdom, not just dry stagnant
facts and information to be memorize regurgitate back. Where are the classes on etiquette
and social awareness? Or how to listen to each other or any of those elemental life tools
that really determine your place in life. How come school doesnt teach us about
ourselves first so we dont have student suicides or shootings?
Can there be a perfect way to educate the masses equally? Does it matter if there are
different levels of learners in the same room taught by one teacher? These are the type of
questions I would like to explore about this topic.
