Muslims are not terrorists

When the Ku Klux Klan claimed credit for terrorist attacks in the 1960's,
they were not identified by religion as "Christian Fundamentalists" or
"Christian Terrorists." Although they identified themselves as a Christian
movement, the media never labeled them as Christians because their
terrorism was regarded as a basic violation of Christian principles. When he
was asked why, he said, Because they weren't fighting truly for the sake of
God. Muslims against Terrorism requests media not use phrases such as
"Islamic Fundamentalists" or "Muslim Terrorists" regarding terrorist attacks
"Because such things do not exist. Those events, plus conflicts in the Middle
East, media labeling terrorists as Muslims, the Taliban's treatment of women,
and a history of conflict between Christians and Muslims, have created a
number of myths. The Prophet Muhammad said, Do not kill women or
children or non-combatants and do not kill old people or religious people.
He also said, "Suicide is harmful in Islam.
Islam is the religion of human value and dignity. Muslims ask that
religious affiliation not be mentioned in terrorist attacks, because they
believe to kill civilians is murder. The Prophet also said that people who kill in
the name of Islam go to hell. Editor's Note - Terrorists associated with the

September 11th disaster could be called "al Qaeda Terrorists" since their
involvement has been proven according to US, British, and Pakistani officials.
Over the past several decades, some persons of Arabian descent who
claimed to be Muslims have committed terrorist acts against the United
States. A fourth myth is that Islamic teachings allow governments to force
everyone to be Muslims. Hamza Yusuf, an Islamic scholar, has made several
comments about Islam and terrorism. He said, The most dangerous myth is
that Islam condones terrorism. Islam is the religion of peace, love and mutual
respect. another myth is that in Islamic teachings, men are allowed to
terrorize women. This is not true. Islam is the religion of moderation. Another
myth is that Muslims are mostly Arabians in ethnicity. In reality, its all people
that have the same respect to the Muslim religion.
According to Islam, murder is harmful. It is prohibited as a mortal sin.
Muslims against Terrorism requests media not use phrases such as "Islamic
Fundamentalists" or "Muslim Terrorists" regarding terrorist attacks. They
further state, "Because such things do not exist. Islam is the religion of
peace, love and mutual respect. Islam is the religion of human value and
dignity." They ask that religious affiliation not be mentioned in terrorist
attacks. Hussein Rashid, a professor of Islamic studies at Hofstra University
in New York spoke against such violent images being linked to Islam, saying,
I'm just a man. In a bitter irony, the sometimes violent attacks against
portrayals of the prophet are kind of reverse idol-worship, revering -- and
killing for -- the absence of an image.

"It's all rooted in the notion of idol worship," said Akbar Ahmed, who chairs
the Islamic Studies department at American University. He told CNN, "In
Islam, the notion of God versus any depiction of God or any sacred figure is
very strong." In some ways, Islam was a reaction against Christianity, which
early Muslims believed had been led astray by conceiving of Jesus Christ, not
as a man but as a God. "The prophet himself was aware that if people saw
his face portrayed by people, they would soon start worshiping him," he
concluded. The extremists didnt want the same thing to happen to
Mohammed.
Islam does not prohibit you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those
who have not fought against you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. God
loves just dealers. The Prophet Muhammad prohibited soldiers from killing women and children,
and he would advise them, Do not betray, do not be excessive, and do not kill a newborn child.
Further, he also said, Whoever has killed a person having a treaty with the Muslims shall not
smell the fragrance of Paradise, though its fragrance is found for a span of forty years. The
Prophet Muhammad has forbidden punishment with fire. He once listed murder as the second of
the major sins, and he even warned that on the Day of Judgment will be those of bloodshed.
Muslims are even encouraged to be kind to animals and are forbidden to hurt them.
Once the Prophet Muhammad said, "A woman was punished because she imprisoned a
cat until it died." On account of this, she was doomed to Hell. While she imprisoned it, she did
not give the cat food or drink, nor did she free it to eat the insects of the earth. He also said that a
man give a very thirsty dog a drink, so God forgave his sins for this action. The Prophet was
asked, Messenger of God, are we rewarded for kindness towards animals? He said: There is a

reward for kindness to every living animal or human. Additionally, while taking the life of an
animal for food, Muslims are commanded to do so in a manner that causes the least amount of
fright and suffering possible. When you slaughter an animal, do so in the best way. One should
sharpen his knife to reduce the suffering of the animal guilty of violating the laws of Islam.
Islam is not a religion of terror or killing. The Prophet always valued
human life and even animal life. If one small faction or sect of a large
religion commits a violent attack, we dont immediately condemn the whole
religion, but if such an attack is carried out by a Muslim, it seems that credit
is given to the religious beliefs of Muslims, the Quran, and The Prophet
Mohammed. This is not something that is done in Christianity or Judaism.
Furthermore, by connecting violent images on television with Islam, many
people are becoming prejudiced without even knowing it.
