Organized Note-taking

~Intro~
For this project we decided to help URI students
learn how to make better, more organized notes
by color, highlighting and recognizing the main
and sub-points.
As a group we are solving the problem of
unorganized note-taking. It can be very difficult
for students specifically freshman to take well
written organized notes during a lecture or
seminar.
We also decided to use a notes and tabs format
an order to have a similar technique virtually as
well as our video.

~Process~

 Drafting: For the draft we did exactly what we

are doing for the project. We videotaped, we
wrote our memo and used class readings for
practice for the class.

Brainstorming: We used our own note

taking skills and decided to share with our
classmates who may struggle to have well
organized notes. We also used our knowledge
of colors to help keep notes even more
organized and structured.

Group Roles: For the group roles we each

decided to break up the written memo into
sections but collaboratively wrote it together.
We then decided it was best that Mo would
videotape and organize the display of the
memo, Jackie would write and do voice over
leaving Valerie to the edits.

Content: We used a note book, Iphone,

pens, markers and highlighters to help prove a
colorful organized way of note-taking.

User testing: For our peer testing we used a

page from class reading. Students then read
the article and use different colors or
techniques to take notes based on the article
they were given.

Peer Review: We were told that we needed

to change our video to make the words slower
and more clear. We were also giving advice on
making the video slower and adding verbal
instructions to our video.

~Rationale~
The rationale behind our tutorial on how to take
color-coordinated notes is simple. The ability to
take effective notes is essential, especially once
you hit college. Our rationale was to show our
fellow classmates how to take notes to the best
of their ability by using colors to identify
between different points within the notes. Since
students want to do well in school, we thought
this topic would be beneficial to those who are
unorganized, especially freshmen who are
transitioning into college life.

~Next Step~

The rationale behind our tutorial on how to take
