3D printing can also enable my teaching of students with special needs
because I can then print individual-specific tools and devices that can
better support my students.

What does he need to know?

I am a fast learner and pick up on techniques quickly. Keeping

organized and knowing what to expect during each class is beneficial
to my learning style.

Having materials in advance of learning, for

example PowerPoint presentations, is also beneficial.

Choose one or two ISTE Standards for teachers and explain how that
standard would be implemented in your classroom.

Digital Citizenship is a guiding principle and implementation in

the classroom is imperative for teaching the 21 st century student. For
some, practicing legal and ethical behavior is a no-brainer. However,
digital citizenship is an educational imperative and it is necessary to
teach primary and secondary students safe, lawful and ethical online
behavior. Students should understand the ramifications, consequences
and possible outcomes of inappropriate online behavior.
Integration of technology in the classroom is happening at a
rapid pace.

The ISTE Standards for Digital Citizenship provide a

blueprint that guides implementation of technology in the classroom.

Democratic principles offer the citizen an opportunity to participate in

their government. Responsible citizenship is directly associated with
participation in community.

Today, the online community begs for

responsible student involvement.

According to Aristotle, a man was a political animal and a citizen
was a man who enjoyed the right of sharing in deliberation. Digital
Citizenship is about responsibly sharing knowledge and participating in
online communities. As an educator and student, I ascribe to Socratic
philosophy: I am wise because I am not wise. Humility is at the root
of knowledge and hubris has no place in education. The availability of
information and myriad of social and communicative learning platforms

available to students afford them opportunities to take ownership over

their education outside and possibly inside the classroom as well.
Creating a lifelong learner will produce a more responsible citizen.
Students who take personal responsibility for their learning are often
the most successful. ISTE Standard 5, Digital Citizenship, is important
for students to know and understand because it can empower them to
demonstrate personal responsibility for lifelong learning.
The fast moving pace of mobile technologies has led to a

that are technologically challenged.

With the advent of mobile technologies, the

standard of teaching and availability of resources is vast. A myriad of

educational apps, programs and websites offer educators, students
and administrators the opportunity to benefit from resources and
curriculum easily and on the go.
