The educational Jewish experience
Everybody in our world deserves a good education especially children. Many rights were
taken off from Jewish people when the Nazi and Hitler became in charge. One of the major
problems that Jewish people have faced was education. The article that I read comes from The
Holocaust Explained website, and it explains how Jewish people suffered in the educational path.
The topic of the article is Education: The Jewish experience. Also, there are pictures included
with the article that shows how Jewish students in school were treated differently.
In 1933, many Jewish teachers in Germany were kicked out from teaching in the
universities and schools just because they were Jewish! After that, in the same year, the
percentage of Jewish students in the universities went down to one percent! Then, Jewish
students could not go to Germanys schools anymore. Many teachers at that time supported
Hitler. More the 30% of the teachers in schools supported Hitler by wearing the uniform of the
Nazi in schools. One of the points the surprised me was that students in schools had to great the
teachers with certain words that supported Hitler and Nazi.

The writer of the article says that The teacher would enter the classroom and welcome the group
with a Hitler salute, shouting Heil Hitler! Students would have to respond in the same
manner, often eight times each day at the start and end of the day, in addition to the beginning
and end of each lesson. I am surprised that the students had to do it 8 times almost every day
because I think that this is kind of worshiping Hitler. It reminds me of the king of North Korea
because the way he is treated with shows that people would put a human being in a higher status
like God for example.
Another point is Jewish students were treated very badly specifically in class. For
instance, when the Nazi became in charge, they rewrote the books in schools. This is one of the
strongest points that affected me, it says in the article that For example, teachers would begin to
pick out Jewish students in classrooms to use as examples of non-Aryans during biology
lessons about racial purity. Jewish children would be told to stand at the front of the class, whilst
teachers pointed to their eyes, ears, nose, mouth and hair; comparing these to characteristics on
Nazi propaganda sheets. The teachers used to make Jewish student stand up in a class and the
teacher would point at the way he or she looks. This is devastating for anyone. I cannot imagine
that in a class room because it is so horrible.
The Nazi forced Jewish teachers to teach in Jewish schools, but even the students in Jewish
schools used to be bothered from the Nazi. In the article, However, the experience of Jewish
children attending Jewish schools was also not without its problems. Often members of the Hitler
Youth would wait outside at the end of the school day and set about beating Jewish boys as they
left school. So they were not left alone even in Jewish schools. People in general started hating
Jewish because of the lies that were said about them. Hitler made many people hate Jewish

people for what! Hitlers excuse was to purify the race in Germany. I think that everyone in this
earth deserves a good education no matter what especially for children.
