Concept or Topic: Bosu Ball

1. As I reflect on the three sessions, to what extent were clients productively engaged in
learning? (Brief description of how they were or were not productively engaged. Activity
level does not equal learning)
-To start the session, I began by introducing myself and asking which students have done
bosu ball before, and if they enjoyed it. I made sure that they students were acclimated to the
ball for safety purposes. Throughout the session, I gave the students options for low to high
intensity, based off of their fitness level. Midway through the session, I had the students find
their heart rate to see how intense they were making their workout. During the muscular
strength portion, I assessed the students knowledge of the opposing muscle groups.
I think the clients were able to know, do or apply the following things from the
session I taught.
-I believe the students were able to know the benefits of bosu ball, heart rate training zones,
proper lifting sequence, opposing muscle groups, and the required amount of exercise for
cardio and muscular strength based off of ASCM recommendations.
2. List one fitness component you emphasized/taught to the clients.
-One fitness component I emphasized was muscular strength.
Did the clients learn what I intended them to learn?
-I do believe that the students learned what I intended them to. I made sure to include the ASCM
requirements for cardio and strength training, heart rate check for training zones, opposing
muscles, and the benefits of bosu ball.
Were my instructional goals met? Please list the instructional goal you had and then
discuss how you know it was or was not met.
-My instructional goals were met. The one instructional goal I wanted the students to learn was
proper lifting sequence. I knew it was met because before performing the lift, I explained to the
students that an individual should perform multi-joint lifts before a single-joint lift. We then
performed with the body bars a bicep curl to a shoulder press and then back down to full
extension.

3. Did I alter my goals or my instructional plan as I taught the session? Why?
-I made sure to incorporate this instructional plan all throughout the three days of teaching.
Towards the last day I listed the types of muscles each lift was working, to increase the students
knowledge.

4.

If I had the opportunity to teach this session again to this same group of clients, what
would I do differently? Why? (Use instructor feedback here!)
-I would work on getting my routine down more smoothly. I would make sure to practice the
counting and transitioning much easier for the students. Before starting the class, I would also
want to quiz the students more on what they think the benefits of bosu ball are. Overall, I found
this teaching experience to be rewarding yet extremely challenging.
