BODY
I. First Main Point: ISIS was not a one-day hit. It has been
slowly and strategically gaining its strength and power since 1979.
A. Subpoint: What ISIS is.
1. Isis is a terrorist group that follows an Islamic
ultra-fundamentalist ideology that controls a wide
spread
region across Iraq and Syria. They believe they are at
war with the world and with people they dont see as true
Muslims.
2. They believe their job is to carry out the apocalypse as
prophesied in scripture.
3. They are a group of people that stand for brutal
dictatorship, religious extremism, sectarian hatred, foreign
interventions, proxy wars, and a sense of hopelessness and
anger among many, many people.
B. Subpoint: Sadly enough, the US plays a role in letting ISIS
rise into power.
1. Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan.
2. September 11,2001, the US was officially apart of this
war and sent troops
3. Once we started taking out troops Iraqs the Prime
Minister was slowly weakening the Iraqi military, which
caused many problems.
C. Subpoint: During all of this Syrian civil war plays a huge
role.
1. Assad was an Assyrian Dictator who took the first shots
as a public peaceful protest.
2. The rebels are formed out of the Assyrian army who
disagreed with Assad and citizens who were mistreated.
3.The civil war had now reached new heights, it now was a
religious stand.
II. Second Main Point: A group so powerful has to have

strategical reasoning for what they call themselves, how they

behave and what they believe is right, and eventually make people
want to join them.
A. Subpoint: Isis calls itself a caliphate.
1. A caliphate is an Islamic state and stands for many
different things.
2. A caliph has not spiritual authority, but military and
political authority.
B. Subpoint: They have a strong theology of rape.
1. Their religion allows them to do whatever they please,
now taking advantage of women.
2. Tell True Story
3. Tell True Story
C. Subpoint: To get people to support you, you first have to
get like-minded.
1. They first joined to kill Americans.
2.They are soul- searching for purpose and answers.
3. The use of captigon
III. Third Main Point: How ISIS can be stopped.
A. Subpoint: Syria needs a peace agreement.
B. Subpoint: Iraqs government needs to build trust and heal
C. Subpoint: Iran and Saudi Arabia need to back off their
proxy war.
