For the thicd time recently, | experienced a pregnant wornan conming here from the Middle East to Lewiston to hrave her baby only to access citizenship for her infent. n all three cases, the woman comes here close to delivery date and stays with a friend or family member, comes to CMIMC, has her baby and expects Mainecare to cover the costs. In all 3 cases, both parents are professinals (pharmacists, dentists, etc), Finally this time, with the third woman trying this, the MASH program told her that she is ineligible for MaineCare and that this would be a self pay. She is now requesting free care from the hospital. Honestly, i am so sick of the abuse of our medical care here in this country. She wil be returning to Dubai within @ month, has no intention of living in the U.S. |just wanted you to know that | appreciate the effort that you expend in trvi ng to eliminate such abuse of our healthcare. {also appreciate that you managed to get ‘our hospital reimbursed for the money owed by the state of Maine. I need to keep this patient anonymous due to HIPPA regulations, but just needed you to be aware of the situation. The previous two times were with the same family who gave birth to two children within 18 months, came briefly before the birth and returned to the Middle ast within weeks ‘only to return again doing the same for the second baby. Mainecare paid all of those bills to my knowledge and she also became a WIC client for the time that she was here. Thank you for listening to my concerns. ca Ly y Ss S. &
