Using Non-Functional Harmony
Chord progressions can be used in which the traditional tendency of
chord resolution is not apparent. This type of chordal movement involves
arbitrary root movement. Experimenting with root movements of varying
intervals can help in this process. Since there are no set theoretical rules to
follow in this instance, final decision on the acceptance of a particular
progression should be based on your ear and musical taste.
