Portraits
Arnold Newman sometimes used symmetrical composition in his portraits. Bill Brandt used
asymmetrical compositions, sometimes with part of the face not visible within the shot.
Zofia Kulik composes her self-portraits in a way that is reminiscent of stained glass windows.
Investigate the use of composition in portraiture and produce your own images using a variety
of approaches.

Street Photography
The London Festival of Photography defines Street Photography as un-posed,
un-staged photography which captures, explores or questions contemporary society and the
relationships between individuals and their surroundings. It has been suggested that
Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Frank, amongst others, are fathers of Street Photography.
Research Street Photography and produce work based on your observations of individuals
and their surroundings.

Movement
You should make connections with appropriate sources when developing your personal
response to one of the following suggestions.
(a) Develop your own interpretation of the starting point Movement.
(b) You could record the movement of a subject in a frozen moment of time or as a blur.
(c) You might produce a short film or animation that explores movement.
Note:
You will have 7 weeks to complete you research 9 weeks to complete your research, experiments and documentation. You must create a least
one final piece good enough to exhibit. You will be setting your own weekly home learning assignments. A range of equipment w ill be available
for you each lesson but please alert Mr Ledster if you require anything unusual by Friday afternoon at the latest. Your work over the 9 weeks will
be assessed using the exam boards 4 objectives and you will receive 4 marks out of 20 and an overall grade. This will help i nform your predicated grade for the end of the course and will count towards your overall Unit 1 grade. Please seek assistance with printing and mounting.
Reminder: This task will count towards your final Unit 1 grade (approximately 20%).
