DoDEA College and Career Ready Standards for Mathematics

DoDEAs implementation of the College and Career Ready Standards for Mathematics (CCRSM)
begins SY2015-16. These standards allow DoDEA to focus on teaching our mobile militaryconnected students and are the pathway to prepare young people to compete and succeed in a
global economy. CCRSM require a significant shift in instructional practice as well as new
approaches by teachers to help students master more critical thinking and problem solving skills.
The following task illustrates the type of math students will be doing as part of the new standards.

Grade 6
Domain Ratios and Proportions
Cluster Understand Ratios Concepts and Use.
Standard 6.RP.3d Use ratio and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems,
e.g., by reasoning about tables of equivalent ratios, tape diagrams, double number line diagrams,
or equations. Use ratio reasoning to convert measurement units; manipulate and transform units
appropriately when multiplying or dividing quantities.
