Schools of Zambia
Zambias minister of the school is Dr. John Phiri and John thinks that the
school of Zambia needs to be improved because he thinks the school is bad
because only 39 students are really intelligent. John practices employed Horizon
College to improve their school.
The grade level for Zambia are weird because it starts off like Primary school
is grade 1-7, then Junior school is grade 8-9 ,then the last one is Upper Secondary
school which is grade level 10-12. Public schooling starts from grade level 1 and
ends at grade level 7 because it is too expensive after grade level 7 and some of
the people in Zambia dont have a lot of money and they cant afford any more
public schooling. The last thing I am going to talk about is the cost of living well the
cost of living is really low except public schooling but the food from Zambia and
grown in price rapidly. In recent years the cost of food in Zambia was really low like
you can get a lot of food for only 1$ but now it has grown in price.
Typically what the school looked like is a is a hut or a mud brick building and
the school is in the middle of nowhere just a big mudded land some of the students
think that they need better schools but the thing they really need are better school
supplies. Its says the schools of Zambia are free education but some of the classes
there have no teachers or they have teachers but they only come like off and on
they just dont have enough teachers for all the classes. Most students live far away
from the school some live about two hours away and they walk to and from school

every day and they dont even have shoes because they cant afford to buy some
shoes. The students homes are far spread out from each other in different villages.
Most village schools make the students wear a uniform this requirement is
waived if the students are just too poor to afford to buy a uniform if they are to poor
then they dont have to wear a uniform. Most students even in high school have a
uniform and bring an extra pair of playing clothes for when the students get to play
during schools and after school. Most of the students have pens because in Zambia
pencils are really expensive but pens are a great luxury. The students are all very
respectful for instance they stand when the teacher enters the classroom and the
students listen and take notes and do what the teacher tell them to do and when
the teacher is giving a lecture the students give there undivided attention and pay
attention very closely.
If students learn enough to pass the high school exams, and more importantly if they have
enough money to pay for high school, then they move from their village homes and go off to a boarding
high school for the 8-12th grades. These are the very lucky students, especially in the more poor areas of
the country. The very lucky students will be able to attend a college. There is only one university in the
country which is extremely expensive but there are several colleges. These schools have specific
programs to prepare students to become certified to be teachers in the Zambian education system. These
are normally a two year program.
Most of the population are struggling with starvation, jobless, extreme poverty, malaria, disease,
and Aids. More than half the population only lives off a 1$ a day and they cant even afford repellent from
mosquitoes to protect them from malaria. Malaria is the main cause of death for children in Zambia, and
malaria is the leading cause of death worldwide. 78% of the people live off a 1$ a day, 92% unemployed
in Zambia, 54% of the population are starving , and the death rate for children is 17%
I am interested in my project or topic about the schools of Zambia because I wanted to know
more about another schools in the world and the different education and life styles in Zambia. I enjoyed all
the research and fun in this topic. I did encounter a lot of troubles in this project like finding information

and plotting it on my flashcards and making them into an essay and making my outline, and also my
works cited because I had to fine all my sources because I forgot to jot them down so I had to find them
again and to put the flashcards in the right and proper form.
