    powerinSyriainclude(ornoteliminate),pursuanttointernationallaw,theprospectoftrialsforall
    thoseresponsibleforatrocitiescommittedagainstSyriancivilianssincethepeaceableprotestsof2011
    andduringthecurrentcivilwarthere.
    AstheRev.Dr.MartinLutherKing,Jr.,observed,Truepeaceisnotmerelytheabsenceoftension,itis
    thepresenceofjustice.IftruepeaceistobesecuredinSyria,theatrocitycrimescommittedthere
    mustberesolvedaccordingtoajustruleoflaw.Thepreservationofsuchaprocessisessentialfor
    obtainingthesupportoftheSyrianpeople,andtoachievingsustainablepeaceinSyria.
