ART &DESIGN IT task week 1

Lesson Objectives:
Create a Powerpoint presentation on Surrealism and one Surrealist artist
Create a mood board in Powerpoint on Surrealism

Lesson 1 & 2

Task 1 Create a PowerPoint on Surrealism- Research Surrealism- What is Surrealism?

When did it start? Where did it start? Why did it start? Who started it? What did it look like? Who
were the artists? When did it finish? Collect images of Surrealism.
Task 2 Create a PowerPoint on one Surrealist artist- Pick one of the following artists to
research- Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte, Max Ernst, Joan Miro or Man Ray. Create a slide with
images of their work. Dont forget to name the images. Then create a presentation on them and
pick one of their images to discuss.
Write the Basic Facts of the artwork What is it called, when it was made, where it was made and
what is it made from?
Write the content of the work? What does it look like? What is happening in the picture? Discuss
the artistic elements within the work? Colour, shape, line, form, texture, space etc.
Task 3 Create your own Surrealist Mood Board or Digital Collage using images from the
internet

Homework- Choose one image from your chosen artist and do a gridded copy of it for next week.
It must also be coloured in with colouring pencils or paint. You also need to print off your work
from todays lesson. Dont forget to save your work.
