Kellyville Black took out Weekend at Bernies 11

for 2013. The midweek catch up had everything
youre not likely to see in a match - 3 penalties, a
send off and Jaime bagging a hat trick!!!
The new warm up and pre-game rituals seemed to
work....Naya showing for training and finding out there
was a game on, Jaime forgetting the shin pads, Nolan
forgetting his contacts, Adam arriving late! and Bunny
getting between the sticks for the first 3 minutes (great
save Bun - rivalled your recent greatest goal ever at
Kellyville as the highlight of your season!).
The game itself got in the way....but there was actually
some good hard football on show from both teams. The
Whites dominated early territory, but the Blacks held firm
and were patiently sucking up the pressure. The early
chances falling to the Blacks.
The match swung dramatically after 15 mins when
unfortunately, a couple of words were misheard/
misconstrued and the Blacks were left with 10 and Fewelly
was starting to look like a cheerleader.
Not long after, a run into the area saw a breeze knock
down a White player. Fair call from the ref to call a penalty
- benefit of the doubt to the attacking team. 1- 0 down and
playing with ten men...the Blacks had to change up a
couple of gears...
Almost immediately the Blacks swung the match their
way and dominated possession and territory. Runners
across the park and some great passing started getting the
Blacks in behind...Jaime taking a run in the box, stumbled
across an untied lace...down he went and the Blacks were
able to a square up the penalties through Vic.
Some great ball play down the left saw Naya make a
lung bursting run right to left into the area. A cut back to
Jaime and a brilliant running first time, half on the turn,
kinda volley etc cannoned o the back of the net. The ten
men had fought back to hit the front!

Halftime saw the Blacks discuss a set move o the kick

o for the second half - next time well make sure Vics
listening...
An ordinary start to the second half gave the Whites
the chance to pinch two back. The first driven across the
goals and bounce back to Nolan o the post who followed
it in making sure it hit the back of the net! The second was
a turnover that saw the Whites counter with speed and
their striker finished well. All of a sudden the Blacks were
down 3-2.
The heads never dropped however, and after lifting in
the first half, lifted again with 10 men and took control of
the match. The eort of everyone was outstanding whether tracking in defence, running into a tight defensive
shape, opening up on counter attacks or talking everybody deserves a pat on the back. There was some
very smart football. Anything where Vlad is left speechless
has to be a good thing!
The equaliser came from constant pressure and a shot
that earned the third pen of the match, second for the
Blacks. Jaime stepped up and drilled home his second.
The third coming ten from the end as another
movement that involved passing across the backline, down
the left, bounced o the midfield and opened up the
centre for Jaime who drilled a shot.....straight into a
defender....
....everybody standing and watching as it spun and
dribbled past a wrong footed whites keeper. A second fight
back and 4-3 up.
The eort increased and players on sore, strained and
cramping legs, played smart defensive football.
Call of the match was debatable....Vic for telling Dame
to play long and hed chase it....or Dame for setting him
straight on his running abilities....
