Quarter final

Kellyville kicked off their Champions of

Champions campaign with a comprehensive victory
over the Shoalhavens champions, Shoalhaven United,
6-1 at Lyrebird Park, Nowra.

with centimetre-precision past our own post!! The goal

followed soon after from another corner as they managed to
land a corner between our defensive pillars and head home.

The Kolts were faced with temperatures topping 30

degrees and a massive field that would both combine to test
the Kolts resolve for this competition.

Kellyville responded brilliantly, as they have done all year

when faced with a challenge - positive talk, with the lift in
intensity that was required. Within five minutes the Kolts
restored their lead, when players moved, the passes were
zipping and the camp was set up in the oppositions half.....
the pressure too much for Shoalhaven and as they sat deeper,
the quality of the Kolts finishers was to shine!

A few rusty touches early but thankfully the opposition

were keen to hand over possession at every opportunity. The
Kolts played with their customary width, opening the park
up for the silky skills in the centre of the park of Alex and
Jaime. Naya and Vic received ball to feet and the opposition
had to work overtime to try and contain the Kolts.
Thommos running from left back was outstanding as he
consistently got to the byline in attack, creating
opportunities.
An early strike from Jaime from 30 yards brought out an
absolute cracking save from the Shoalhaven keeper, diving
full length to the right to fingertip it around the post.
Anything going in the other direction, met a wall of
Kolts defenders. Shoalhaven had strength in the air and
wanted to play to it at every opportunity - the Kolts had the
strength of Fewelly, Dame, Noons (and Stoney before he
popped his calf) and were able to repel and then dominate
the balls being played in.
Doz and Vlad came o the bench to add another creative
spark. Doz immediately unsettled the Shoalhaven defence,
creating an opportunity to strike. (My defender suggested he
shoot all day.....I suggested Doz was straight out of Serie
B.....he bought it!)
Ten minutes before the break, the deserved goal came
when Doriano saw the run from Jaime across the defence.....a
deft chip landed outside the left hand corner of the six yard
box. Jaime was able to swivel and chip the keeper volleying
the bouncing ball - outstanding goal!
The break was welcomed but proved a little too relaxing
for the Kolts who started the second half slowly, inviting
pressure and allowing the opposition to grow in confidence.
This resulted in Noons clearing from one corner

1-1 and it was game on....25 minute remaining.

Jaime showed his class with a goal reminicent of the GF

goal as he cut across the top of the box from the left. This
time though he bent it away from the keeper to the near post
- quality brace! (and my defender then heard all about the
years Jaime played in the Chilean third division...)
Minutes later and Shoalhaven were all at sea as the Kolts
were making runs that had them unsure whether to track or
not....Harry played through Naya who at pace, finished over
the advancing keeper. The speed and finish taking us all back
in time (only the hairline shows the age!)
Vic was inspired by all this running and decided to put
himself in front of defenders for Harry to set up yet another
goal, after turning defenders inside and out down the right.
A well deserved goal, given the leg work he did all game,
showing himself up front for our backs and midfielders to
play to.
Then another unstoppable penalty from Alex took it out
to 5-1.
The sealer came when Doz pinched the ball o the
demoralised striker (whos mouth was now shut following the
gob full he sprayed when it went to 1-1.....the football firmly
closing it) ran straight at the defence and touched in Naya.
Naya finishing in his favourite style - right foot, far post.
A special note re Adam who unfortunately is ineligible to play
CoCs as he did not turn 35 prior to the end of last year...tough to take
for him and the team). A big thanks to him and a" the other
supporters who made the eort to get there....3 hours...it helped! (and
Adam we DO sti" need a masseuse???)
