Proposal

Target Audience
The target audience of my website doesnt really have an age as my website will be selling
video and its quite hard to discover what age is the most seen playing and liking video
games as I know lots of different aged people that like video and research shows that a lot of
people like playing video games. As my target audience is for mainly gamers any age I will
have to make sure my website is accessible to a wide variety of user so that it is easy for
them to navigate my website and if they have any impairments I need to make my website
easier to see and use. As my website is a business I need to make sure that I create the site
so that the users can trust the site enough to pay money out for one of the available
products or services.

Functional Requirements
1. Amount of pages:
I would like a minimum of 3 or 4 pages. Keep this in mind throughout the planning
and production stages of the work. Think carefully about which pages should be
created.

2. Necessary banner / animated carousel:

A banner or carousel of images to be created which includes a logo. Could include
an image of the design of the banner, etc

3. Navigation bar:
The website should include navigation which should be clearly structured so as to
allow customers to use it with ease. Could include an image of the design or
general bootstrap navigation bar concept

4. Colour Scheme and Background:

The website should obviously include a complimentary, yet limited, colour

scheme and therefore you will need to make sure that you only use a few colours
which match together. Use some of the websites in the Dreamweaver bootstrap
booklet to include as screenshots of possible colour themes

5. Screen Icon:

You must include at least one custom-made screen icon which obviously needs to
link in with the rest of the site.

6. Web Graphics:

The website will need to include suitable web graphics so that its attractive to
look at and helps to create a good website design. You could mention the default
sizes required based on the templates in Dreamweaver. Video, images, awareness
of saving objects for the web and sizes. Adjusting in Photoshop as necessary

7. Links:

Throughout the website, a range of different links need to be used; including, text
links, button links and graphic links. Could discuss both internal and external
links

8. Tables:
9. Text:
10.

11.

I like the use of tables to not only set up, but also to standardise, information.
As far as text goes, it needs to be appropriately formatted with a font of sans or
sans serif. Examples such as Ariel, Verdana or Calibri would be ideal.

Form:

I want the website to include an active form to collect customers details, this will
be collecting details such as the customers phone number, email address, card
details etc. Discuss what will be collected. Try to include:
o Check boxes e.g agree to terms and conditions or being contacted again
by the company (examples)
o Radio buttons - could be male female etc.
o List menus - e.g. title, gender etc.
o Buttons - e.g. submit, reset form
o Set some fields as required fields
o Set some max character lengths up
o Set the tab index accordingly

Email Address:

There must be a link to an email address where potential customers can send
questions about specific products or regarding anything about the site in general.

12.

Embedded Media

13.

Accessibility:

This may be a video or embedded google map possibly.

The website needs to be accessible in the form of pop-ups on graphics, valid
alternate text and a consistent font & colour.

14.

Search engine optimisation

Page titles - change for each page and Meta tags - add keywords and
descriptions.

Resources Needed
I will need different types of software and equipment to be able to produce this website. The
software I will need is called Dreamweaver, it is a web authoring software that will allow me
to create my website. I will also be using google to search for images and similar websites
for research.

Site Pages Explained

My website will consist of 5 pages. These pages are my homepage and 4 separate pages
that are each tailored to selling specific console games.

This is a screenshot of the storyboard for my

homepage, this page will consist of my logo,
a navigation bar, search bar, my rollover
graphic, 2 web banners, and information on
contacting us at the bottom.

solely for the sale of PS4 games and
accessories, it will consist of my
logo, a navigation bar, search
bar, a big banner ad, 3 picture links,
a sale ad, another picture link and
information about contacting us.

Timescale
To be able to get my website finished in time for the client I have set some targets so that I
can get it finished quick enough. By the Friday of the week of the 14/12/15 I will have
finished my ILP, Navigation chart, storyboards and I will have started my proposal. By the
Friday of the week of the 4/1/16 I will have finished my proposal and client brief. By the
Friday of the week of the 23/1/16 I will have finished and tested my website and finished my
evaluation.

Legal & Ethical & Codes of Practice

Copyright laws:
Copyright is a legal right created by the country that gives the original creator of a
piece of work the exclusive rights of use and distribution. Before this act was
created there was very little anyone who created something could legally if
someone steal their work for their own. The Copyright designs and patents act was
created in 1988 and can cover anything anyone has created including songs,
videos, pictures and text. This law can protect somebodys creation up until 50
years after their death. I need to take
the copyright law in to consideration
whilst creating my GAP Travel product,
as I will be using pictures, information
and videos that have been taken off
the internet. I would be able to register
to copyright my product online instead
of having to go to any office straight
away I could use the UK Copyright
Service (Link:
Screenshot of UK Copyright Service
https://secure.copyrightservice.co.uk/). To register for
copyright seems easy to
do on the internet, I have
placed a screenshot of
what information is
required to apply to the
right. To apply for
copyright online costs
money whereas to do it
formally it is free. I will
place a screenshot of the
Close up of charges section.
charges section below. As I will be using text,
pictures and videos in my product I will need to do some research into the pictures I
use as they could be copyrighted by the owner and if I use them in my product I
could get into trouble by the law.

Ethical considerations:
When you are working on any type of media that can be viewed or heard by another
person taking into consideration the ethical side of things is a must for anyone as
certain people can be very easily offended and if I published something that
offended someone in any way they could take up legal action and try to possibly
sue me. Ethical considerations can consist of;

Racism (White/Black)

Gender (Male/Female)

Sexuality (Hetero/Homosexual)

Disability (Able bodied/Other)

Nationality (British/Other)

Class (Working/Middle/Upper)

Regionalism (North/South)

Age (Young/Old)

These considerations mean that you cannot refer to either group as inferior to one
another as people can be offended. If you do not take these factors into
consideration the company could be sued and the production not allowed to be
shown.
There are some laws that go in place with these ethical considerations. For example
it is against the law to discriminate against;

Age

Sexual Orientation

Race

Gender

Religion

It is vital that I take ethics into consideration as I do not want to be sued so need to
be as balanced as possible. My product target audience is 16-30 males and females,
therefore I cannot be one sided to either gender or age group whilst writing my text
as someone could get offended. My product will incorporate picture and videos so I
need to be careful that there are no inferior opinions in the pictures and videos and I
also need to have written permission of someone to say I can use the pictures and
videos.

Data Protection
The Data Protection Act defines UK law on the processing of peoples data and is the main
piece of legislation that governs the protection of personal data in the UK. It gives people the
right to know what information is held about them and provides a framework to ensure that
personal information is handled properly.
The Act states that anyone who processes personal information must comply with eight
principles, which make sure that personal information is:

Fairly and lawfully processed

Processed for limited purposes

Adequate, relevant and not excessive

Accurate and up to date

Not kept for longer than is necessary

Processed in line with your rights

Secure

Not transferred to other countries without adequate protection

It also provides individuals with important rights, including the right to find out what
personal information is held on computer and most paper records.
To make my website trustable I have to follow this act when taking in customers personal
data like address and details.
