Zoe and I worked together for one year at Rye Country Day School. Zoe was an assistant teacher in my Kindergarten classroom. In addition to supporting the children in our classroom, she was also a greeter for the lower school in the morning and attended graduate school at Bank Street full-time, For the two years Zoe has worked at Rye Country Day School she has been a wonderful teacher and colleague. She is responsible, dedicated, and passionate about teaching children, Zoe consistently went above and beyond her duties as an assistant teacher to support her students’ individual needs. She was able to modify curriculum and differentiate as needed to ensure children reached their full potential. Zoe is a compassionate teacher who brings out the best in each child she works with. Over the course of the year, Zoe took on more responsibilities including; morning meeting, reading conferences, guided reading groups, handwriting, and writer's workshop. To support students during transition times, Zoe was proactive and created a chart for the children to use. This showed her ability to identify a problem and find an effective solution. Zoe taught an engaging three-week unit on writing How-To's in the Spring, She carefully planned each lesson scaffolding the process for each child and conferenced with them individually throughout the process. Zoe contributed to each child's parent-teacher conference throughout the year and led two conferences in the Spring of 2015. She was well respected by the parents and confident in her interactions with all families. Itis my pleasure to support Zoe as she seeks a classroom teaching position.
