INFORMATIONAL TEXT
DIRECTIONS: Read the following paragraph carefully. Then
answer the questions about it.
A hive of honeybees includes many worker bees that collect nectar to
make honey. The workers do not fly around randomly looking for flowers.
Instead, a single bee locates the flowers and returns to the hive. The scout
bee performs a sequence of motions, a type of dance, that the other
workers watch. Scout dances are not always alikethey vary in type of
motion, direction of motion, and speed. After the dance, many other bees,
the foragers, fly to the flowers and collect nectar. Even if the scout remains
in the hive, the other bees have no trouble locating the flowers.
