- We've started three new after school activities. Book Club,

We The People, and Makerspace are being held on
Thursdays.
- We held a school-wide convo focusing on respecting and
recognizing the value we all bring as individuals to our
school.
- We've started the 8th grade scheduling process with the
NHS course fair and course selections for 8th graders.
- We've "rallied for the rock," and celebrated an 8th grade
girls basketball victory over west to win the river rock for
East.
Our next big school-wide event is the annual talent show.
We've included some details about the talent show in this
month's newsletter and encourage all interested students to
participate!

School closings/delays

NEMS-Unleash Your Talent!

Noblesville Schools makes every effort

to notify families in the event of school
closings or a two-hour delay to the start
of the school day.

Does your child have a special skill to show off?

Maybe a dance, juggling act, song, or some other
interesting or funny feat. The annual PTO
sponsored talent show will take place on
February 10 and would be the perfect place to shine! Auditions
will be held after school on Wednesday, January 20 in the NEMS
cafeteria. We hope many students will be a part of this night of
entertainment and fun! Audition sign-up sheets will be available
during lunches through Tuesday, January 19.

Information about weather delays and

cancellations are posted immediately on
Noblesville Schools Facebook and
Twitter accounts, as well as through
local television stations.
School Messenger alerts are sent out
to the email address and phone number
that is on file with the school office. If
your email address or phone number
has changed, please contact the school
office so we can update our records. We
advise all parents to provide contact
information since this messenger system
will also be used in the case of
emergency.
There is an article on the school
district website regarding factors that
are taken into consideration when these
weather-related decisions are made.

Freshman scheduling
The freshman scheduling process for current 8th grade students
has begun! Freshman counselors met with 8th grade students on
January 13. All students should have received a yellow course
selection sheet. These sheets will need to be turned in to their
science teachers by Friday, January 22. Students will be
entering their course selections into the computer the week of
January 25 during their science classes.

Makerspace materials needed

We need some Makerspace materials in the NEMS Media
Center. Can you help us out?
What is a makerspace? Makerspace is
creativity in the library. Makerspace is
about learning to think for yourself,
collaborating, creating, and looking for
do-it-yourself solutions. It is a place where people come
together to invent and learn. We have been experimenting with
littleBits kits, squishy circuits, knex, snap circuits, paper quilling
and hydroponics.
We will use and appreciate any craft material you are able to
donate. Just send them to the NEMS Media Center.
Monthly activities are offered for NEMS students. Makerspace is
open to all students all day!
