Wall Street Crash:

they didn't worry about the loans and just kept spending

when the stock market crashed- less farming, less steel production
Farmers stopped farming, people started not to have food.
Stocks plummeted drastically this was called Black Tuesday
The banks had to start giving out loans- people lost their jobs
unemployment rate increased
Lead to the Great Depression, people would wait hours in line for food and coffee
1931- 2000 banks closed
1933- 4000 banks closed
people who saved up their whole lives discovered they had no money left
1933- nearly elected president roosevelt declared a bank holiday to asses the banks
1933- fed insurance corporation was established
