Sean Power accepted a Long Term Occasional position in M.M. Robinsons English department, and as the department head, I am glad to be able to offer my recommendations of him. The L.T.O. assignment Sean had was with a grade 9 academic class, starting just after the Christmas break. Because much of the course was over, but the culminating period was just commencing, Sean needed to make a number of important preparations: to familiarize himself with the students and their needs as they prepared for the final 30%; to equip himself to speak knowledgeably about textual and course content; to create relationships with students who might otherwise be discomfited by the fact that their teacher had gone on leave. I can assure you that Seans commitment to these preparations was excellent. I was struck in particular by Seans ability to intuit what was required in a variety of situations, and by various students, and even by parents with whom he was in contact. He made the students transition from their regular teacher as smooth and as efficient as could be hoped. I realize that the sample size is quite small, but because Sean was as reliable as he was, I would be glad to recommend him, should I be asked.
Sincerely
