Goal Sheet
This sheet will be completed with your field supervisor during seminar and brought to the first face to face
class for The Teacher as Researcher during Week 3. It will be a part of your Inquiry Notebook.

Current Wondering:
Based on IRLA data, how can I help students develop stronger foundational skills in
reading? (Planning to talk to CT more about this)

1. What are your goals for student learning related to your inquiry?
My goals for student learning related to my inquiry include helping students develop
stronger foundational skills with reading so that they can read fluently, while also
understanding what they read.
2. What data might you collect to more deeply understand student learning related to your inquiry?
IRLA reading levels and goals for each of my students. I will also collect data on
strategies that work to improve kindergarten comprehension and how foundational skills
in reading affect students reading abilities.
3. What ideas do you have for changes/actions/strategies in your teaching practice that you might
make related to your inquiry this semester?
I would like to work more closely with IRLA and how my students are improving and
working to strengthen their reading skills and abilities. When teaching writing, I will make
more of an effort to sound out words with students so they understand how words are
formed.
4. What data might you collect related to the changes/actions/strategies you are trying in your
teaching practice?
IRLA data, more specifically, how students are improving regarding the goals that they
have reached as well as their progression with reading levels.
