Money Unit Rationale

This unit is about money and is designed for 3rd grade students. The unit will integrate
numerous academic foundations and content areas while teaching the basics of what money is

specifically on what the value of money is, strategies to add and subtract money, and real world
problems.
The use of various activities, exposure to literature, and integration of technology will
enhance student learning and understand as they explore the basic concepts of money, learn
strategies to quickly add and subtract money, and work through real life problems involving
money.

that the students will solve problems, make change, and round money to the nearest dollar.
