1. The basic military strategies were two broad offensives: to move north
from Australia, through New Guinea, and eventually back to the
Philippines, and to move west from Hawaii toward the major Japanese
island outposts in the central Pacific.
5. Federal spending and a higher gross national product due to WWII
caused the end of the Great Depression. A shortage of consumer goods
from high demands during war time allowed wage earners to begin
saving their money.
9. The government funded by borrowing about half of the revenues it
needed by selling $100 billion worth of bonds. Much of the rest was by
raised income taxes through the Revenue Act of 1942.

It was a watershed for advancement because of the American
government pouring funds into research and development starting in
1940. The Unites States introduced the techniques of mass production.
This converted efficiently to military production in 1941 and soon
allowed the creation of other vehicles. Coding systems allowed the
Americans to decipher enemy messages eventually at a rate of 1000
per day, creating a steady increase in the speed and quality of
products.
