Perspectives additional info

Perspectives can be thought as the viewpoints (perspectives if you will) that
an individual who practices a given profession might see, when looking at a
set of needs, a problem or a solution.
Perspectives allow one to interpret and apply the BABOK Knowledge Areas
and Tasks from the lens which they are operating.
Perspectives are not mutually exclusive i.e. multiple perspectives can be
included in the same analysis domain.
Perspectives are a new notion and didnt exist in BABOK V2. There are 5
in all: Agile, Business Intelligence, Information Technology, Business
Architecture, and, Business Process Management.

Some popular Q&As

Where can I get V3 of the BABOK ?
Current IIBA members can download the eBook version at: http://www.iiba.org/ . This is a benefit of your
membership. Cost to Non-IIBA members is $55 USD.
The printed version is out and available on Amazon here. It costs ~$75 USD.

Did they change for the sake of change?

Good Question! Organizations, authors and publishers are often ridiculed for purposely obsoleting their
content for revenue generation reasons. It has been 6 years since V2 was published.
IIBA felt they needed to update the BABOK to account for:

30

1.

Wide adoption of Agile / Lean Methodologies. Every BA should know the basics of Agile methodology.

2.

Be more inclusive to fields outside of IT that have significant BA elements.

3.

~50% increase in Techniques (34 in V2 up to 50 in V3). ~150 pages of BA techniques!

4.

Addition of new BI Perspective

5.

Recognition that many Organizations have a BA who is responsible for BA and Solution Design.
New section describes the distinction and overlap between requirements and design.

When will the IIBA CBAP and CCBA exam content be switched over from V2 to V3?
Latest answer is ~ 6 months after the Request for Comment period has ended. Advice If you are planning to
sit for either exam, you should do so prior to 12/31/2015.
Update as of 10/1/2015
In November 2015, IIBA will announce a revised certification framework, which will include:
* A multi-level structure which recognizes increasing levels of maturity along the BA career path.
* The establishment of competency-based learning outcomes which will provide education providers the ability to
develop and deliver targeted training courses.
* A streamlined and simplified application process.
The revamped certification program is planned for implementation in Q3 2016.
