In Order to determine the pipe diameter along with the optimal vapor flow
rate flowing out of the tank, we have adopted Darcys law based on a 20%
flow reduction to account for flashing of liquid during flow through valves,
fittings, friction etc..
The total discharge, Q (units of volume per time, e.g., m3/s) is equal to the product of the
intrinsic permeability of the medium,
e.g., m2), and the total pressure drop (pb - pa), (pascals), all divided by the viscosity, (Pas)
and the length over which the pressure drop is taking place (L).
Assuming a turbulent flow (Reynoldss number above 4000) and based on
1PSIG pressure Drop, 6.89 Kpa. The flow in Gallons per Hour is shown
below.
Results:
Q = 23.5 Liters Per minute in LIQUID STATE
Q = 23.5 x 1000/4.206 = 5590 Liters/min
Q (vapor) = 5590 Liters per minute , pipe Diameter D = 1 inch
All Total Volume of Vapor inside the Gas Tank will be Discharged in 1 minute
with a pipe Diameter of 1 with a Pressure drop of 1 PSIG only.
D = 1 inch is the Optimal Pipe diameter for a flow rate of 5590 L/min.
