YEAR 12 LESSON PLAN 1: Introductory Lecture


Year Level: 12

Date: 15th February, 2016

Unit 1: Biodiversity and the


interconnectedness of life.

Topic: Introducing the Unit of Work: Biodiversity Length: 2 hours

Time: 1pm 3pm

Lesson Summary:
The purpose of this lesson is to provide students with background knowledge of the Unit of Work, in accordance with the Australian Curriculum
Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) Curriculum Outcomes (2010). The students will be seated in a classroom with a teacher
presenting a PowerPoint Presentation at the front of the class. The Presentation will provide an overview of the Unit, including important dates
and times. The remainder of the lesson will be allocated to the formation of student groups, as well as students becoming familiar with the use of
iPads.
Lesson Outcomes:
Students will be expected to:
1. Take notes from the PowerPoint Presentation
2. Form groups of six students
3. Become familiar with the use of iPads and student email
4. Exchange student email contact information
Assessment of the outcomes:

Safety and Risk Assessment:
Standard risk assessments apply to classroom activities
Students MUST be supervised at all times whilst using the iPads; due to internet connectivity and privacy concerns.
