6th Grade Native American Research Project

Name:____________
For Unit 3 in ELA, you will be put to the challenge of showing your understanding of a topic through
research. Each of you will pick a Native American tribe and complete a project to present in an expo style
event. You can choose the medium you would like to display your information, it can be a tri-fold, a poster,
a 3D model, an electronic presentation, etc.
In addition to this presentation, you will also need to write an informational paper
about your Native American tribe. We will have four days in class to work on the
project, collect research and proofread papers, but most of the work should be done
at home. All sources used in your paper must be cited using MLA format. If you need
help gathering materials for your project, you must talk to Ms. Hodshon at the start of
the project.
Your paper and presentation need to address the following information about the
Native American tribe that you have selected:

Location of the Tribe

Religion
Food Eaten
Government
Art Work
Family Life
Current Conditions of the Tribe
o Where are they now? What do they do? What are differences and similarities in their culture compared
to the past?

Your project will be due on: February 12, 2016. This

assignment is a major assessment and will be added into the
gradebook as a test grade! Students will also receive a quiz
grade for the grammar/spelling portion of their paper.
