B.E :THE marks prove otherwise but my project was carried out at Rail Wheel Factory
(BANGLORE) earlier KNOWN AS WHEEL AND AXLE PLANT. It utilizes the
TECHONOLOGY FROM GRIFFIN AMERICA AND MANUFACTURES 800 WHEELS
AND AXLES IN A SINGLE DAY. It RUNS 24/7. Thus RAIL WHEEL never sleeps. We
were assigned duty to study the instruments leading to degradation of the power in
the factory. Entire power system was studied in minute detail. Arc furnaces are
employed to melt the steel, therefore it needs continuous supply of quality power
and at various stages it is automated using the (PLCS) programmable logic
controllers. On conclusion we suggested to employ a STATCOM (STATIC
COMPENSATOR) at the load end so as to decrease the flicker harmonics which in
turn would improve the quality of power. This system of electronics control over
high power systems was plotted and simulated over Matlab, which showed that the

electrode decay would be less and will save over Rs1.60 crores in power tariff over
a decade.

M.TECH:As the name suggests in POWER SYSTEM AUTOMATION different electronics

instruments right from thyristor controlled SCRS and Mosfet IGBTS and different
computer applications in the power system was studied. The project was carried at
Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore one of the leading institutes for research
in the country. The mitigation in the power due to transients was studied. PSCAD,
POWER WORLD AND MATLAB simulations were carried out and the filter
inductance was found as one of the major contributors of different mitigations and
harmonics levels. Hence a Front End Converter in the load side was proposed
and designed.

Basics skills: Very good orator and communication skills.

Experience:

(a) 6 months teaching experience at SSM COLLEGE OF

ENGINEERING.
(b) 2 years teaching experience at NIT, Srinagar.
Sailent features of Experience:(a) Establishing setup of M Tech level labs with software simulations of power
system modules with softwares like PSCAD, power world.
(b) Hardware setup of power system including experiments like:(i)

Voltage regulation of a transmission line.

(ii) Calculation of sequence impedances.

(iii) Time and current grading of relays.
(iv) Study current time characteristics of a fuse.
(v) Calculation of ABCD parameters of a transmission line.
(vi) Calculation of the charging current of single core and 3 and a half core cable.
(vii) Calculation of the resistance and resistivity of ground by fall of potential
method.
(viii) Study different insulators.
(ix) To calculate the plug setting multiplier and time setting multipliers of over
current relay.
(x) Experimental setup of differential protection schemes was also established.

(c) Different faults occurring in the power system were simulated in PSCAD
environment. Matlab package was utilized to solve load flow solutions. Power World
was used for Power Optimization and Rescheduling Cases.

Present Engagement:- Presently perusing PhD in Intelligent Control of Hybrid Wind

and Solar Energy under Prof M.D. Mufti (Dean Academic Affairs) NIT, Srinagar. My present study
of interest lies in the interfacing of FACTS (Flexible Alternating Current Devices) interfacing with
energy storage devices like SMES (Stored Magnetic Energy Storage) device to overcome the
problem of power unbalance at times of load. Two papers namely Energy Storage with STATCOM
and Sine Triangle Modulation Of Front End Converters are in the pipeline.
