Transformations

Lesson 1

Do Now
1. Which of these shapes are
congruent?

2. Which of these solids are

congruent?

3.Which triangle is a reflection of

triangle A?

4.Which triangle is a translation of

triangle A?

5. Shape A is rotated in a clockwise

direction. Which of the following
shows A after 1/4 turn

Introduction to
Transformations.
This unit of work is a cross-curricular
link with maths. You will be learning
about Transformations which includes
looking at Reflections, Rotations,
Translations and Enlargements.

Learning Objectives
To know: the terms reflections and
rotation.
To be able to: apply reflection and
rotations to a set phrase.
So that: you can develop a deeper
understanding of transformation.

Performance Progress
MASTERING

Consistent precision in execution of action, space and

dynamics. Excellent command of physical and
technical skills. Excellent sensitivity to style and
meaning. An engaging performance as a result of
commitment and effective use of expressive skills.

SECURING

Accurate execution of actions, space and dynamics.

Good command of physical and technical skills. Good
communication of style and meaning throughout. A
committed performance and good use of expressive
skills

DEVELOPING

Some accuracy of actions, space and dynamics.

Sustained evidence of technical skills, some
demonstration of style and meaning throughout.
Some sense of performance and commitment and
some use of expressive skills.

EMERGING

Some accuracy of actions, space and dynamics (at

times limited). Some evidence of physical skills, some
attempt to communicate the style and meaning but

Choreography Progress
MASTERING

I can create a range of original, interesting and

challenging variations of the 5 basic actions and link
these fluently and effectively to create a motif/ longer
phrase. I can show I use a range of the mathematical
stimulus within my choreography in interesting ways.

SECURING

I can create a range of interesting variations of the 5

basic actions which are more challenging. I can link
these fluently to create a motif/ longer phrase, and
show the mathematical stimulus within my
choreography to add interest

DEVELOPING

I can create a variety of different actions (which may

be a more obvious response to the 5 basic actions) . I
can link these to create a motif, and use the
mathematical stimulus within my choreography.

EMERGING

I can create simple variations of the 5 basic actions

and order them to create a short motif. I can attempt
to use the mathematical stimulus within my
choreography.

Appreciation Progress
MASTERING

I can appreciate my own work and that of others

considering impact, quality and effectiveness in
relation to the dance idea. I can set targets for myself
and others in relation to identified strengths and
weaknesses.

SECURING

I can appreciate my own work and that of others

commenting in detail about its impact on the audience
in relation to the dance idea. I can comment on the
strengths and weaknesses in my own and others work.

DEVELOPING

I can appreciate my own work and that of others and

consider how it relates to the dance idea. I can identify
strengths and weaknesses in my own and others work.

EMERGING

I can appreciate work when asked making comments

on what I liked and disliked. I can make some basic
suggestion and what works well and what needs
improving in my own work and that of others.
