February
Studying: Math: Addition/ Subtraction

Science: The Planets

Social Studies: Civil War

Birthdays: George Fuller, Laurie Dupnock, Nicholas Cannon

Sports: Softball Signups, and Baseball signups.

Its hard to believe that more than half

of the year has gone by already! After all
the snow days we had in January, there is
lots of work to catch up on. Dont worry
though, if I know these students at all they
will be back on track in no time.

This month we are continuing to study

addition and subtraction. Except, now we
will be focusing on adding and subtracting
two (maybe even three) digit numbers. Holy
cow! Parents, if youre going to the store,
take your child with. You can help your
them practice this skill by asking them how
1
much multiple items may cost.

Even more exciting is that we will be

learning about the planets and the solar
system. On the back, Ive included a song
that you and your child can sing together
to help learn the names and order of the
planets.
In addition, we are starting a new topic
in social studiesthe civil war. Parents if
you know that someone in your family
fought in the civil war, share that with your
child! This will hopefully make students
that much more interested.

DONT FORGET!
We will still be heading outside for
recess, make sure children are
prepared to play in the snow!

PLANETS SONG

It's time to tour the planets that make up

our solar system, come on
The closest to the sun is the planet
Mercury
Next the shrouded planet Venus
Is as covered as can be
The Earth is next, we call it home
Let's hope it stays that way
And then there's Mars, it's really red
What more can I say?
The gassy planet Jupiter's
As big as planets come
Then there's Saturn with its mighty rings

Welcome to February! There are

many exciting things that we have to look

very special birthdays. This month we are
