Studentswillstartofftheunitbyanalyzingsimplenumberpatterns,however,bytheend
oftheunitthestudentswillbeexploringcomplexnumberpatterns.
LessonGoals:
Thegoalofthislessonistohavestudentsmakeandextendnumericalpatternsusing
hundredscharts.Throughtheformationofhundredscharts,studentswillbeableto
analyzenumericpatterns,recordnumericpatterns,andalsouseatabletorecordand
analyzepatterns.

objectiveofthelessonaswellaswriteitontheboard.Theteacherwilltellthestudents
thatduringthelesson,theyconstructandextendnumericalpatternsusinghundreds
charts.Throughtheformationofhundredscharts,theywillthenbeabletoanalyze
numericpatterns,recordnumericpatterns,andalsouseatabletorecordandanalyze
patterns.Afterstudentshaveaclearunderstandingofthelessonobjective,teacherwill
modelnewknowledgewhenintroducingthenewconcept.

Afterstudentsunderstandthatthepatternwastocountby5s,theteacherwillpullout
hercalculatorfortheclasstoseeandcompletethesamepatternonthecalculatorby
hitting5+5=,=,=.Thecalculatordemonstrationwillhelpstudentscomprehendhowto
useacalculatorwhendiscoveringpatterns.
