Effective Principles of Observation:

Wipe away preconceived notions before starting your observations.

Collect observations under different circumstances and from varied perspectives.

Take thorough notes, including quotes and details about the setting and atmosphere, and collect
important class documents.

Engage in active listening using a detached observer approach.

Keep systematic track of observations that surprise you or contradict your prior beliefs.

Pre-Class Notes (e.g., what are the teachers goals for the lesson? what are the demographics [e.g., student population,
class size, proficiency level] of the class?)

Start with the quiz 10 minutes (basically about last class reading materials and last class information

Description/Observation of the class

Reflection on/Interpretation of the class

1. Teacher start with 10 minutes quiz the materials are

basically about what they learned in last class and what
the teacher gave it to them in last class.

In this time I found out during the quiz time, if the

students has questions or need help, when they are
asking questions, she always give students
encourage (excellent, you did great job) and explain
the questions to students.

(i.e., what is happening?)

2. She explained every question and give the students

every question, how should answer the question. What is
this question asking for?
3. Teach students how to do the brainstorm. (use her
knowledge and experience to come up with several
reasons) why did society change so dramatic about LGBT
people.
Example:

1. My own observation and belief

2. People got to meet be friend someone who was
LGBT(how did this happen).<---LGBT people had to
tell others: they come out(millental) {how did
this happened
3. Celebrities
came
out
(98-Ellen
DePeneres)models its ok what else?
4. Pop music cultureTV shows movie (90s)
Could they talk them all this in essay?
Its students job to pick the most important one (how did
this one thing to change the society)

(i.e., what does it mean?)

In this class she bring a new thing to students:

brainstorm. For letting student easy to understand
the tasks and easy to understand, she use her own
ideas to help students to understand what is
brainstorm how to do it. She lists four steps on the
white board to be an example. Her example is very
simple and easy let they can understand the tasks
more easily.

She always left enough time for students to practice

what she is talking and want to students understand
the tasks problems. This time she left 20minutes for
students to practice.

During every practice time she always walk around

and help every students or just the student raise
hand who need help.

## Using brainstorm to write it down few ideas, pick one

to write it down
## Go to digitation, pick the few topic, write down one,
2

think about what is issue to change the society, then do

the brainstorm write down four steps (ideas). Students will
change 20 minutes to think about the ideas and write it
down. (students can related their own country (recent and
past) find the topic they are interested about. Find several
reasons about it.)
