Hello Cultures of Thinking Educators and Leaders! CoT-Oakland is thrilled to introduce a new
opportunity to share how students and their teachers are building cultures of thinking and learning in
L.S. Vygotsky
their classrooms. Join us for Celebrate Learning: A Gallery Walk and Strolling Dinner.
This special event is open to ALL (fellow educators, school board members, community members,
legislators, etc.) Administrators, teachers, and some of their students, will create displays and talk
with you about how, together, they are making their thinking visible and engaging in meaningful
learning in school. Participants will enjoy a strolling dinner as they travel through the gallery and
talk about what they see, or join a group to experience a facilitated thinking routine.
Celebrate Learning: A Gallery Walk and Strolling Dinner will take place on
Wednesday March 2, 2016 from 5:00-7:30 pm. in the Atrium of Oakland Schools.
We would like to extend an invitation for you to serve as a docent at this first special event. Please
encourage other Cultures of Thinking educators in your school to consider serving as well.
What are the expectations for participating as a docent?
Docents will
share how you are shaping and leveraging the cultural forces in your classrooms to ensure all
students' thinking is valued, made visible, and actively promoted!
bring student thinking artifacts to share with visitors
engage in conversations to help deepen everyones understanding and appreciation of the
thinking and learning cultures being cultivated for all
deepen your own learning through collaborative dialogue with other educators and
community members
Cost: Free for docents! There is a $20.00 registration fee for the event. This fee is waived for all
presenting docents.
Where: The Atrium of Oakland Schools 2111 Pontiac Lake, Waterford, MI 48328.
When: Wednesday March 2, 2016 from 5-7:30 pm
