Skipped initial word writing just to

ensure everything else could get
done.

Warm up with words or names Have India start by

writing any words she knows, either family names, or og
words from our reread book.

-She did a great job with A Frog.

She remembered all of the words
we had talked about on Monday
without needing to read the book
(frog, jog, dog, and log). She also
remembered and wanted to show
me she knew frog was fr- not just
f-. Reading went well, still some
struggles with and_

Read A frog, practice the words she know (-og words she
does well) as well as the other words presented in the book
(take, and). Read through first with her, then have her read.
Really trying to work on the og ending today.

1.
Word Bank: Review any words that you have in
a word bank or add some from the reread that the child
knew automatically.
-Practice with notecards from A Frog. Also pull out preprimer word list, today is a good day to work on those
words. Place 3-4 out and have her pick up the ones she
knows
2.
Picture/Word Sort: -review word or picture sort
from roaming or add a new one based on a need
presented during reading
**Make sure to get to this today. Work on og words, still

She knew all the A Frog notecards

with mastery. We skipped the preprimer words today, I wanted to
practice og some more.
Perfect picture/word sort. She
knew all the pictures that ended
in og, and quickly decided that
House, Lock, and Corn were all
not og words.
-Mastery with push it say it. She

took only a second for each word

to make it (frog, jog, dog, log).
She pointed, pushed, and
underlined perfectly. Her
sounding out was troublesome
one time when she said fr,
ahh.frog so I had to correct her
and make her repeat og.

needs practice. Lay out a few pictures and have her pick
the ones that end in og.
3.
Writing Sort: write several words from the word
sort if the child is writing with some fluency
**Wait to do this one until we work on ig words in the new
read and on Friday.

4.
Push It Say It: Introduce a new word from your
new book and use this method
-Introduce the ig endings with familiar beginnings from
A Frog. A Pig will be read as the New Read, use the
words from this as well as og.

Writing

Sentence:
Encourage the student to create a sentence and do the
writing book strategy. Keep it relatively simple Record the
sentence here.
Ask India which sentence she would like to make from the words
in A Frog and A Pig. Guide her to choose the words that she
knows, such as frog, log, dog.

Childs Effort 10/10

She chose her own sentence
Pinkie Pie love me. I let her
choose this sentence because
she had done so well in the
lesson. She needed guidance
with Pinkie Pie, so I sounded it
out and she wrote the sounds
she heard. She noticed the
similarity in endings of Pinkie
and Pie. She knew loves fairly
well, but I needed to remind
her about the s, and me was
first written my, but when I
asked her if it was correct she
quickly corrected herself.
Amazing job, really used the word
endings and pictures to help her
self through each word. b and d
are still getting her confused, but

she knows the words well.

Introduction notes: Introduce the book. Read the title,

remind her that we have just gone over some of these
words to give her the confidence, show her the back of the
book and have her fill in the letters for the words. Read
through with her first, and then have her read alone. Check
to see if there is any og ig confusion. After the reading is
done, be sure to give her a book to take home and remind
her that she can color her copy.

Times

**I made a checklist for the first time today and it worked wonderfully. She was incredibly motivated to check each box, and the
last item on the list was getting to draw Pinkie Pie. She focused through the entire lesson, sat with her bottom in the chair,
pointed to words in books, listened to instructions, and in the end created a beautiful drawing which she was very proud of.
AMAZING job today!
